Thanks...

i have an inquiry in with them.... do you remember what size you used? i will check your build too but in the mean time...

mighty mouse 08-05-2011 11:18 AM

pretty sure it was 2 7/8"

shlammed 08-19-2011 02:28 PM

Heading to the shop tonight after i pick up some trans oil and an alternator belt.

change 3 wires, install intake manifold/fuel lines and put the new AEM file i made onto the EMS and see if it will start.

Once i get it running, i will finish the other shit like exhaust and new seat mounts.

Going to run the car all motor for the rest of the year. If i can get it running that is. When i do, i will be taking it to the dyno to see what kind of numbers i can make with my custom intake manifold and VVT tuning. I will 100% need a 6 speed though. 5 speed and 3.636 rear without boost will be lame.

it doesnt look like it, but i got a ton done today.

i refinished my valve cover since i only primered it before. In memory of my VW GTI, i painted it Candy White. I love that color.
https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1313899046

Hacked the flange off of the OEM header to fit a 3" pipe. Surprisingly good construction for an OEM header.

General cabin shot when im wiring to the EMS
https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1313899046

Vinyl negatives and steel wook work great for logos!
https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1313899046

Going forward, im still not happy with the wiring. I think that i would like to get some ECU plugs, an amphenol for the firewall and a summit racing chassis harness kit.
If anyone has any of those items, that would be great!

Can anyone confirm what size the factory fuel lines are in a miata?

I am ordering Tube to AN adapters so i can do my custom fuel rail with aeromotive FPR.
My hacked setup leaks and im not risking a fire.

Ordering these:
https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1314209178

offered in: 3/8" and 5/16"

Braineack 08-24-2011 02:10 PM

5/16

shlammed 08-24-2011 02:14 PM

Tks B.

mighty mouse 08-24-2011 07:35 PM

that's what i'm using, they are super easy

vehicular 08-24-2011 11:28 PM

Just flare the lines. You can rent a brake line flare tool from Autozone/ insert silly wobble head parts store here, and buy the nuts and sleeves from Summit for super cheap. You get a perfect female AN joint to mate to that looks cleaner for cheaper.

shlammed 08-25-2011 01:19 PM

I have one of those tools.

Care to share the summit part numbers for reference?

vehicular 08-25-2011 03:57 PM

http://www.summitracing.com/search/P...s&kr=tube+nuts

These are the nuts. The sleeves are usually in the 'related items' section in each item page.

5/16 is -5AN which is going to be a little difficult to find. Measure YOUR lines to make sure they're both 5/16 OD and I'll be happy to see how miuch they will be from my local line/ fitting dude (superhero, really). Be aware that I've done this on several cars and never found one that was both 5/16 feed and return. Usually it's 3/8" feed and 5/16" return on Japanesy stuff.

shlammed 08-26-2011 10:07 AM

Thanks!

I will look into it.
Im going to get the car running and then order all of this. Having the car towed into town from my shop so i can work on it when i have a second instead of spending 2 hours driving to do 2 hours work.

Bride reps. Fit good and sit REALLY low.

https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1315090323

They are so legit.

Also made egr blockoff plates and random bracketry. Putting most little stuff on tomorrow and finishing the exhaust before I tow the car into town to do the finishing details. Hope to be driving in 2 weeks!

SMOOTH!

The welds on the exhaust are fully purged and both inside and out look like this!
So good.

I ran out of gas though so i couldnt finish every weld.

astroboy 09-08-2011 08:06 PM

Damn. I know if I bought a 350z I would end up getting another miata. Never really cared for the way they felt. Good luck with the partout man!

life goes on....

viperormiata 09-17-2011 08:37 PM

Why are you going from a fast car to a slow car?

shlammed 09-18-2011 02:32 PM

To have a car that i can stretch out in for longer drives, something with cruise control for longer drives.

I have changed mindsets and i will drive my civic until spring and then get a new car.... genesis or something.

Gryff 09-25-2011 10:38 AM

Booo, I like your car the way it was... it looked really well done and clean!

shlammed 09-26-2011 11:55 AM

It was.

I am making life changes right now and a second car that soaks all of your money and never runs is not something i need.

Thanks for the comments though.

Buy things from my partout! Support me and my new life.

shlammed 09-28-2011 10:08 AM

Lots of stuff has sold from this build. It is sad some days to see it go, but I am loving the stress free living of not worrying about working on this and the obvious financial hit it has on the bank every month.

For those interested, I have made a jig for 1.8 miata turbo manifolds and can make anything your heart desires. For all other parts.... check out my partout thread V2.0!!!

https://www.miataturbo.net/miata-parts-sale-trade-5/partout-thread-2-updated-list-updated-prices-aem-stance-act-fidanza-more-60719/

Cheers!

mighty mouse 09-28-2011 11:50 AM

are you still going to make intake manifolds?

shlammed 09-28-2011 11:55 AM

Sure thing, Skippy.

shlammed 11-08-2011 01:21 PM

so the miata project as it was is 100% done, but not gone.

A night of insomnia i have an idea for this which i will need the help of the MT.net community for.

mighty mouse 11-09-2011 11:10 AM

I thought you parted it out?

shlammed 11-09-2011 11:11 AM

yep. 90% of the car is gone. I have my 1.6 diff and trans, the hood, bumpers fenders and an assortment of interior parts left to put on the tub.

I know that feeling. It drains the fun out of it all.

shlammed 11-09-2011 03:22 PM

Yep. I will be getting a nice daily in the spring likely and just drive that. (RX8)

Nice cars are cool, but not a priority.

I absolutely LOVE the KA24de. I have a two door Frontier w/ 5spd and even that is a blast to drive around for being a 3300+lb truck.

It's a great truck motor.

Gryff 11-17-2011 01:13 AM

I actually like that motor, I helped a friend rebuild one a few weeks ago. It was funny cause the motor was completely apart before the fucker was even cold. It was that simple to get apart...

They are super easy. They also are very cheap. I used to have a KA-t s13. blew the engine once and i easily found a new engine the next day for $100.
Pics:

They are quite torquey and dead reliable. The torque should motivate the miata to fun lapping with the 4.3 rear end that is going back into the car (oem 1.6 diff).

Just to inform, the project i am trying to do for $0 out of pocket. So value might be higher due to me having quite a few assorted parts from building cars over time. This will show some of my fab skills, but its not going to be baller by any means since there is simply no budget for it. The goal is to have a reliable lapping car for fun runs with friends.

what brand are those? let me know what you think of the perches and sleeves.

shlammed 11-24-2011 01:56 PM

ebay brand. I dont have high expectations for performance, but the price was right.

I will be making custom perches for these so that i can get good height and i dont have any top hats for the oem shocks so i am going to make some raised height top hats to prevent bottoming out.

shlammed 12-10-2011 09:31 PM

Anyone have any more pics of the car that this was from?

Planning over the last month to make this a GRM spec challenge car has paid off.

I have a direction and a plan on how to get it done.

Not much visually different, but seriously cleaned up.

https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1324475479
https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1324475479

What you see there is an oem miata steering wheel (non srs), all of the brackets drilled off with a spot weld bit and the pile of shit removed since the last round of pics.

I didnt have my angle grinder at my shop as it is with my honda at the cottage, so no serious weight reduction could be had. The car is almost down to the bare tub though.

My plan:
Fully prepped and painted tub
8 point bolted in roll bar-to meet specification
OEM miata brake calipers and flex lines
Some sort of race compound brake pad
Corrado front rotors and sport miata rear rotors with custom adapters
RX7 clutch type rear end and axles (turbo spec)
Nissan KA24DE engine swap
Some sort of large turbo
turbo manifold made by me
through fender dentsport garage style exhaust
Some kind of suspension work.-TBD.

charlie_91 12-21-2011 06:36 PM

now we're getting back on track with a sick build :) keen to see this

shlammed 12-22-2011 03:45 PM

I am going nutty and have an outrageous idea.

Does anyone have a BP 1.8 head gasket that i can have? need to do a little...research...

x133 12-26-2011 07:32 AM

I have an old one from a 94 your welcome to but I'm in NJ so idk if it's worth shipping

shlammed 12-28-2011 01:13 PM

Yeah, thanks for the offer.... i decided i was loco and should keep it simple.

no vtec head swaps.
