I finally invested in a nice iron and it is definitely worth it. Fast heat up and holds the temperature well. I also bought 2 alligator clips and made a little bracket to bolt them to so they hold each side of the wires I'm soldering in place. I was resistant to buying flux until I tried it once and it makes soldering so much easier and cleaner.

Where are you grounding your LC-1? Sensor wire or running a wire to an ECU engine ground point? I'm getting a fair amount of oscillation from my sensor ground.

 

flux is god given.

i also use a weller digital iron and it is the ****...warms up super quick and stays warm.

i need a set of those alligator things but now it may be too late..i'm not with all my soldering.

 

My iron was total ****, hot in one spot, not in another randomly. I need to make something like bracket that up and maybe extend the wires I'm working with under the dash or something. It's just fricking difficult even if you tin them and wrap them together I find I end up messing things up since I can't hold everything steady.

I am not sure about the chosen ground. I should trace it out. My buddy picked the grounding when we first installed the thing, because he was a pro mechanic for years and because I just stink at wiring and he had a good gun, but he is not around to help me anymore so now I'm piecing it together myself. I think whatever ground location he picked was fine as it used to work, it's only when I started getting my dumb *** in the mix and messing up the contact point of the multiple wires that things started to *** out.

I'm starting to hate having a project car. I really liked having a race car, but now it feels much more like a project car.
