So after comparing droop travel between Bilsteins and Xidas (turned out to be Gen2)

20170924_143104 by concealer404, on Flickr

We started tearing the perfectly nice car apart.

20170924_143259 by concealer404, on Flickr

NA6 carpet going in.

20170924_182512 by concealer404, on Flickr

Easily the cleanest deck i've ever seen in an NA/NB.

20170924_182532 by concealer404, on Flickr

Black dash in. Jet Stream console mocked up.

20170924_193337 by concealer404, on Flickr

Black/Tan not as nice as i was somewhat hoping. Will finish all black conversion. Probably with NA seats.

20170924_193938 by concealer404, on Flickr

To do this week:
1) Remove power steering and replace steering rack with a unit i bought from Vorschlag
2) Swap out ID1000s in favor of stock injectors
3) Swap out 550/350 springs for 700/400 that will be here soonish
4) Sport brake install
5) Plug oil drain at pan
6) timing belt/water pump
7) Have valve cover, intake manifold powdercoated

Then re-evaluate.

Got my grubby little dickbeaters on a minty pair of black cloth NA seats. I like. Monk is a good friend.

Been a while. Enjoy some disjointed updates.

Removed ID1000s, installed these.

20171008_171108 by concealer404, on Flickr

Removed more things. For science.

20171008_163427 by concealer404, on Flickr

Installed a JDM y0 fuel pressure regulator. Because this is necessary when you want to make ~130whp.

20171008_165146 by concealer404, on Flickr

Making progress on making engine bay look acceptable.

More things came in the mail for the mildly built street car.

Delrin diff bushings and vent windows.

20171007_161717 by concealer404, on Flickr

Spark plugs, NB2 master cylinder, Stoptech pads, clutch master and slave. (Sport rotors not pictured)

2017-10-09_11-31-14 by concealer404, on Flickr

Braided brake and clutch lines, 949 Racing QMAX reroute, poly MSM rear sway bar bushings, 949 lugs and stems, and the world's biggest piece of **** $350 muffler from Racing Beat.

20171010_172319 by concealer404, on Flickr

15x8.5 Hypergrams

20171010_170243 by concealer404, on Flickr

Mmmmm purdy.

20171014_110144 by concealer404, on Flickr

The VR1s mounted pretty wide.

20171016_174315 by concealer404, on Flickr

New brake booster hose, original was cut up from turbo install.

20171017_143348 by concealer404, on Flickr

Console screws and dash blank plates.

Back to work. Impossibly clean motor.

20171021_175849 by concealer404, on Flickr

Installed BP5A intake cam (MSM/JDM y0), water pump, timing belt, 949 front blockoff plate, used a freeze plug behind it because i'm paranoid and had one on the shelf.

20171021_204839 by concealer404, on Flickr

This really is a beautiful piece. Now i need to buy two more. Sigh.

20171021_205901 by concealer404, on Flickr

Removed the swaybars, was pleasantly surprised when the endlinks didn't need to be cut of. First time for everything!

20171024_172837 by concealer404, on Flickr

Removed entire brake system. You only get pictures of the lines.

Got a care package from V8 Roadsters. $25.17 shipping. Medium flat rate, but shipped Fedex. Shandelle is a sweetheart, i love his parts, and i'm ok with another long wait time (ordered October 4th), but...

20171031_172637-1 by concealer404, on Flickr

Endlinks. One pair. Ordered two. Sadpanda.

20171031_180423 by concealer404, on Flickr

Motor mounts. Seem nice. Base plate shows coated on website. This is not. Also: Missing cleviseseseseseses.

20171031_181925 by concealer404, on Flickr

Missing: one pair endlinks, base plate finishing, motor mount clevis, one pair steering rack bushings. SIGH.

PM me with what you've got. Still after the world's nicest shifter surround (black only), some super clean door panels (or else i'll just LRBs and wrap them myself), NB2 hvac control panel/box, BP5A ecu, and NB2 tails.

I have the stuff you already bought.

I really need to get around to making a for sale thread in the classifieds, but a lot of my junk would probably sell better on m.net, unfortunately.

Good looking build so far, but where's the trubo?

I'm going with no, based on other examples i've seen.

I'm finding it pretty hard to stay motivated between this and Racing Beat's bullshit.

It's generally frustrating to me when places don't offer usps since it's often cheaper for the customer. I just paid 5-10 bucks more for shipping for something from CA that was sent Fedex... Except it's going to take more time to get here. So I paid extra for something to get here late and now I won't get it before the weekend so I won't be able to install it when I have time.

I legit see it as folks being lazy when it comes to shipping. At least offer flat rate...

Your picture just takes the cake though. That's bogus.

I don't really have that much issue with the shipping costs. He shipped Fedex. I'm sure it cost $25 to do that. It's just a "sigh" moment to see it in a flat rate. It's nowhere near as bad as Goodwin shipping my M-Tuned brackets in a box the side of a Miata trunk earlier this year.

My issue is the 4 week wait for parts i needed weeks ago, to end up with an order that is incomplete and useless. I will order from V8R again, because for some stuff, he's just the only game in town, and i like his parts, and i like talking to him. But this one is harder to swallow, since he wasn't the only game in town for ANY of the parts that i ordered this time.

Shandelle probably didn't say it because he's not wanting anybody to feel sorry for him but he had a horrific car accident and totaled his NC with the LFX swap and has been in the hospital for the last few weeks having his leg rebuilt. He's not one to make excuses typically but I think some need to be made for him in this case. He's just gotten back home but is mostly immobile and pretty fucked up.

Ugh. :( I'm really sorry to hear that. :(

I hadn't heard anything from anyone. Haven't had any contact with him since the order was placed. That sucks super bad. I'll be sure to wish him a fast recovery over the phone.

I would advise against the delrin diff mounts. I briefly ran PU diff bushings and instantly started hating my car. Went back to IL Motorsport rubber mounts (40% stiffer than stock, like Mazda Motorsport mounts) but still wayyyy better than PU, let alone delrin, in terms of NVH.

I had Poly in my old MSM. Hated them because they were mushy. Felt no increase in NVH, nor improvement in control. Total waste of money and my time, in my opinion.

Purple car has delrin diff mounts. They're awesome. No increase in NVH that i can tell, shifts feel great.

The purple car was perfect last year for DD duties other than exhaust noise, not having a stereo, or A/C. I'm literally just building that car again. But with a quieter exhaust, full interior, and A/C. (And softer 62 duro mounts instead of AWR 70s, but the AWRs would have been 100% ok.)
