Andy,
Nice to see it back together. Questions: What fuel pressure are you running to make that WHP with 750's? No issues with no catch can? Not dripping oil on Manifold from the little filter? Seeing no need for a re-route? Just inquisitive. DNM |

Somehow I still have plenty of fuel, I keep waiting to need to run a return line and I haven't needed to yet even at 373whp on the previous setup. It does have a catchcan on the passenger side firewall just hard to see. |
Will definitely watch the video update, nice work glad its back together Andy!

Did a Virtual Dyno run tonight. This is the 93 octane map and this is running right off the wg which has a 1.1bar spring in it. This was a 4th gear pull, 5th would give me higher numbers but I didnt feel like going that fast on this narrow backroad to do it lol. So this is the minimum amount of power I can make on my setup. Within the next couple days Im gonna load my 100 octane mix map in with 22-23psi and more timing and see what that does.

Well I know this isnt an official dyno yet but I did see 403whp today. At first it was not holding boost and it was getting a small initial spike. I actually loosened the wg rod to alleviate the spike and cranked down on the boost controller more. Finally got it to hold around 22psi.

Pretty astonishing results there, Andy!
I've enjoyed watching your videos and following your progress. Great to see your car back together and making big numbers. Intriguing to me that your 6 speed is holding up and you haven't needed a coolant re-route at such high tq/hp levels. |

I have broken one 6 speed so far. When I do those these high Boost pulls I do them in 5th gear since 4th is what breaks on the 6 speed. On these long 5th gear pulls the car temp goes up to 94c, which is just about 200f. If I was tracking the car I would do a reroute.
Have you seen this thread? Pretty relevant to your power levels. https://www.miataturbo.net/suspensio...ission-105065/ |
Ive been messing with the tune a little more. There was a dip in the midrange and I was able to remove that with timing and AFR smoothing. I think Im still going to add some fuel 3700-4200 range and 6400rpm and up I want to add just a little. This setup is so consistent, its doing multiple 400+ pulls, these two runs were on different stretches of road, but both flat and you can see its damn near identical in every way.
Something else I want to touch on is Im making this 400whp with Stock ignition coils, stock NB fuel system ( Walbro 255/Radium Rail/750cc injectors ) but still deadheaded returnless and I havent run out of fuel yet. I have always wondered why people think the stock coils cant hang. https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...35556f3a2d.jpg Current tune, got the little dip out of the midrange, still tweaking AFR but timing is right where it needs to be. |
Wow, that's an average of 370whp when shifting at 7k dropping back to 5,5k rpm.
You improved a lot looking at that graph, smooooth tq |
Nasty!

I’ve wondered why people say the stock coils can’t hang as well. I’ve seen multiple cars running stock coils making 350-400whp with no issues.
what’s your plug gap set at and what plugs you using? |
Nice numbers, that must be a h00t to drive! Congrats!

The coils you're using, are they the nb2 coils? I had zero trouble with mine as well in the past at 330ish. Wouldn't have given any issue at 350 either imho. And you're well past that without issue.

I went COP for reliability and room. I did not want to have a stock coil failure at an inopportune time. No other reason. I'm low boost / low power, however.
Easy to take a spare COP to track in case of a failure. Cheap insurance. Never had an issue though. DNM |
Yeah, I don't think I'd trust my NB1 ignition setup. But the NB2 COP setup is pretty awesome. I bought an LS coil setup from psyber and never needed it because the NB2 ish just worked so well.

Back in the day we didn't know you could dwell stock coils 5.5ms like we do now.
