I don't know when the next time it will be on the dyno, but probably not anytime soon. The power band feels very different than it ever has. I took out a ton of timing down low to get rid of the big hit as boost would come on and slowly add it back in until redline. So from 3000-8000 it just ramps up from 10* to about 18*. It's so much more drivable on street tires now, especially when playing around on twisty roads.

I was going to say: that spike in the 4500 range would RAPE tires:giggle:

That's interesting you're running the FM rear. What springs?

JayL 05-10-2010 09:29 PM

Bilstein PSS setup, rides like a Cadillac. Front springs are 282 and the rears are 242 from what I have been told.

yeah, that was some pretty insane roads we took. no way I could keep up with you and jeff.

Fyi, I am posting pics now (once I find the spot in the forum)

Why do I get the feeling that I'm the only person using the FM rear bar?

tyson87 05-12-2010 10:59 AM

i think most ppl think it makes it to stiff? and it tends to oversteer?

Braineack 05-12-2010 11:01 AM

depends on the rest of the setup and the application.

On Matts car, (Iluminas, Cut FM Springs, FM swaybars) we had to unbolt the rear swaybar at an Autocross due to some pretty bad snap oversteer.

JayL 05-12-2010 12:04 PM

I'm thinking that because my suspension is so soft it works for my driving style. I do prefer a bit of oversteer. Definitely going to bring the factory bar out to the track just in case.

TurboRoach 05-12-2010 12:20 PM

I'm running both FM bars. I've never had a problem with oversteer until this last drive.

Faeflora 05-12-2010 02:02 PM

I run both but I am not mr uber track driver. I started with the firmest setting and am now running the softest setting on the bar. I had better grip on the softer setting. As brain said, the setup as a whole matters and the sway can't be considered in isolation- it's a system so evaluation must be systemic. uh or is it systematic :|

Just read every page, awesome thread!

Jay's car is fucking tits

AbeFM 05-12-2010 09:10 PM

I put it on and off, but in the end, I went to more rear spring and less sway... Right now I'm in a happy place - go to the sport bar (+1 mm) or the FM bar (+3) or take it out, to fine tune.

curly 05-12-2010 09:37 PM

I've been on both new generation FM bars for a couple years now, I thought I was the only one. Middle setting in the front, softest in the rear, since the factory end links would NOT stretch to the stiff setting. I think that's right anyways, I haven't touched it since installation. With my "crappy" kyb-agx+FM springs it's a perfect setup. I've ran four different sets of tires on this setup and it's always been incredibly predictable. Prone to oversteer over anything else, but so ridiculously controllable I sometimes think I should cross over to the drifting crowd. I had one wet track day where I would have enjoyed slightly less oversteer, and I imagine I'm going to have to fidget with it or get an LSD after "upgrading" to a 1.8 open.

On stock sways I could easily spin the car around if the tail stepped out. Passed a certain point there was no stopping it. Changed only the sways (still stock suspension) and it was controllable and ludicrous angles. Nothing happened to the handling characteristics when going to the coil overs. My :2cents:

That looks nice! Dibbs on the wood grain grippin' wheel! Just kidding. Seriously.

The ID 1000cc injectors are every bit as wonderful as I had hoped. Finished up most of the tuning this afternoon and the car's running great at 16#. Even went for a drive with the new steering wheel and I'm also surprised at the difference in feel, should have done this a long time ago.

Details please :) Why did you find these to be better than the RC750s? Phil was telling me that I should stick with RC and not go to the IDs since the hydra can drive the RCs and low impedance is "better".
