Hi guys
Time for an update not all car stuff will get back to that soon
Went on a Roadtrip around New Zealand for the holiday break it was a much needed break.
This thing was loaded up to the roof
The commodore on the ferry
Wellington Harbour
A massive house we stayed in with some friends in Greytown
It had a pool which was great!
Selfie with the Girlfriend
Somewhere out of Greytown
Rowdy New Years Night in Rotorua...
The Luge in Rotorua. Would highly recommend if you come to New Zealand. Its a sled on wheels that you can race down a hill
Luge selfie
Last run.... Wouldn't recommend not braking for the last corners tipped it on its side and slid down the hill for about 15metres
Go cart place we went to
Electric Go carts they were aparently the fastest in New Zealand. My Girlfriend Gabrielle ended up beating my friend and I She must have been taking some great lines .3 faster than us on a 24 second lap...That was slightly depressing
Makeshift Bourbon holder. We spent a lot of time in this car
I love Asahi beer after going to Japan This Bar was in Napier
Around the Coast of Kaikoura On the way home
Borrowed my uncles mig very usefull!
Got some Toyo T1R tyres in a 205 Because of a lack of decent rubber here that wasn't an r comp.
Mid Pipe almost finished have 3 inch from the downpipe to the tip. Will get a decent photo of the exhaust when Ive finished it
Should have a video of the car running very very soon

The luge in Rotorua is good fun. Much better than the luge in Queenstown.
You asked earlier about my intake, which I only just now saw. It's a flat-top ported to the skunk2 TB. Best for power up high; the vics manifold is best for power overall.

Thanks will have to keep a look out for one of them. I'm sure there will be easy gains over the normal manifold

Update
Have been too busy with friends weddings for any updates. The car is going and legal . I have done almost 400kms of running in so far and have just hooked up the wastegate and is making about 5-6psi I might have to port my wastegate I fear this is boost creep. Really looking forward to winding up the boost and hopefully have someone lined up to dyno the car in the near future. I still want to replace my throttle body before I turn up the boost so I will order a skunk2 one from fab9 soon. The car feels so much more responsive and handles sooooo much better than it did with the old bushes and heavy wheels.
Much driving has happened lately very happy
Lol I had to steal this it was way too true
I forgot to tighten one of my clamps down.... The fail continues
I ran over my own intercooler pipe and I spent a few nights polishing it :(. Oh well, we can rebuild!
Have sorted the Intercooler pipe, haven't polished it nicely yet though just in case it blows off again

I haven't yet just got a warrant and they didn't pick up on the wheels not matching my cert plate. I still have my 17s though so I can swap back at some stage.... for legalities sake
The EBC is bolted down but in that photo the I/C pipe must have hit it because the bracket was bent. First time I have one blow off. I thought something worse had happened because of the metal scraping noise on the road (was freaking out that the motor went pop)

Update
Have put 1500kms on the motor over the past few weeks, and have been DD It for the past week or so.
I upgraded to the skunk2 throttle body from the standard 1.6 and fm spacer... I'm sure this was a huge restriction. Still need to port match the manifold to the TB at some stage.
The Good
Tire and wheels package
The body stiffening and poly bushings.
The interior is a much nicer place to be! I need a roll bar and a bucket seat
Throttle response and spool time are much improved.
The fun this car has been around the hills
I have been out most nights just driving with no purpose, I can't remember doing this for a few years
The bad
No Rev counter is starting to get annoying I'm sure one of the COPs is dying
My Fan has decided to stop working occasionally and Is being a troublesome thing to fix.
My cold starts are horrendous I need to get this sorted. Im sure the COPs are partly to blame because I had no issues when using the standard coil packs. Debating fab9s cop setup
My ride height is too low for Christchurch roads I scrape my front lip daily on my driveway.
A slight oil leak and exhaust leak which don't bother me too much because of how minor they are but I would still like to get them sorted out at some stage.
I am planning to keep DD through the winter, I love having the power to pass other traffic. Driving a non turbo diesel ute does take its toll on you after a while. Am going to build some detcans and get my tune more sorted then will turn the boost up some more. Its set to around 10psi and is an absolute blast. First and second are fairly useless now.
My goal power wise is around 300whp I'm not too fussed as long as I can run into the 12s my PB is a 13.3 with my old setup so I dont think I will be far off.
I want to tidy up my body work the guards and front bumper are the worst panels.
Just want to thank everyone on MT for your knowledge shared It makes it much easier to build a car when almost everything has been discussed before
Will keep updates coming

Hi
Haven't actually done too much to the car, have been dailying it so just enjoying it really. Have done around 5000ks with this set up. Only issue reliability wise was one of the frost plugs went bad and dumped all of my coolant typical as I never changed them when the engine was apart.
Have been working on a cold air box with my friend and hoping he will help me out with a catch can set up at some stage.
Also wired in launch and flat shift which I don't think my gearbox will enjoy but will be great for the dragstrip, which I hopefully have two events coming up in the next month or so.
Really need a roll bar so I can do some track work.
Cardboard Aided Design
Launch switch
Cold air box and intake pipe
The cold air feed which i would like to change as I'm not a fan of the meshing.
Ideally need a slightly bigger filter will probably need some extra clearance though. Going to do a bonnet stay mod this is why the box has no gap for the bonnet stick.
Need to move the ebc solenoid as its not the best place for it.
My younger brother just brought his wife a bone stock 89 NA its hilarious how much different our cars are and man I cant believe how slow it was hopefully I can talk him into boosting it.
Will have more soon

Hi,
Sorry didn't see your reply
I didn't balance the rods just weighed what was closest to the pistons and paired them up.
One thing that would be better and make less vibration for sure but It was a garage rebuild and i did it myself and didn't really want to pay for a machine shop
I have swapped back to the standard coils for the moment because the factory ones have been easier for cold starts probably going to do a ls coil swap at some stage although pretty sure I will need an ms3 for that ideally. The toyota cops have been great really but only had a hard time getting the tach to work all the time. They definitely gave a stronger spark and weren't miss firing at around 19 psi on my old set up.
Have some more small updates Started making a boost leak tester
Got some side skirt things because ricer
Relocated the boost control solenoid much happier with the location

Been a while since I've been on here,
Getting married and having kids does that I guess,
I've been trying to sort out EBC lately on my MS3x and aren't having much luck, I'm getting huge gains of boost with minimal changes to duty, I set at 18% duty and hit 20psi 15% is wastegate pressure or 10 psi, all open loop settings, (I will attach some logs and the tune when I have my laptop with me)
Has anyone had a similar issue?
Cheers Jimmy
