Brand new OEM K24A2 crank sensor didn’t help. Last ditch effort... cleaned the connections with MAF cleaner at the sensor, re-seated connections at ECU, and added another ground from timing cover to chassis closest to the sensor itself.

Finally!… ran an entire 30min session without going into limp mode! Made sure to hit the limiter a few times for good measure. Posted a 2:20.79 actual with a 2:18 optimal! Very impressed with the car & motor!

Here’s a screen shot of the datalog toward the end of that session. Ambient was 56deg and IAT was 75deg. Coolant temp under 190deg. Everything looks to be within spec and running well!

The data logger starts when I hit 5000rpm. And it started at 85 and went down to 75 fairly quickly and stayed there. With heat soak I’ve seen it read 125 in the garage. The intake is through the wheel well and sits in front of the tire. Photos in thread.

This is why I hate mirror cams. Can't see what your shifter, pedals, revs, and steering wheel is doing. Kinda looks like you're plowing everywhere are committing a bit early to the corners before backing out? I just put one of these catalyst cameras on a SM harness bar, have yet to see if the video turned out though.

I agree. It looks and sounds like there is a significant lack of front grip.
Very apparent in turns 6-7-8 where the tires are howling away and you're feet off the apex. Also from 18-22.
Again, can't comment why without more datas.
Once you get this car (and probably yourself) sorted, this is going to be fast. Dan Howard's TT5 lap record is 2:19.49, which should be no issue.

I think the "myself sorted" part is the biggest hold back at this time. Not making the apex was me and me alone.

Not the fastest laps of the event but a little traffic makes for a fun session!

That dude is a scrub. He couldn't even use full throttle in T5 with all 146whp and that softie of a record only lasted one event before a BRZ went faster.

Still on ECF @bimmerboy ?

Yes, but I don’t like them. I bolted on the 15x10 with 245 RS4s from my silver NA and felt they would be faster. But they rubbed at bottom of the sink hole so took them back off.

Will fender roll once those 15x10s I ordered from you arrive!

No real updates other than here's my favorite photo from a recent track day. Tracking out Turn 10 at NCM. 15x10s with 245 RS4s haven't shown ay quicker lap times than the 225 Conti ECFs but they feel better and are lasting longer!

Moved from 700/400 springs to 900/500 springs. Will drive this coming weekend and comment. But it seems that the flatter we can get this car the better it feels and the harder can you push into and out of a corner.

More interestingly, after I added a passenger seat and adjusting for 51% cross, the corner balance is nearly equal for driver only and then driver & passenger. Forgot to take a photo of the scales empty.

I have found similar. My 250lbs of ballast is on the OEM seat mounts, and has little effect on my cross. That tells me I need to move my passenger side ballast rearward, but thats easier said than done.

This has been bothering me for a while now. Random CELs that I can't download, random limps modes, and random can't connect laptop to ECU. I got lucky and found that if I wiggle the USB cord in the ECU port the laptop would actually see live data. I could repeat the see live data, stall data, see live data just but putting a little pressure on the USB port.

Started a thread on the Hondata forum but knew I wouldn't get a response until after the holiday weekend. Link here for reference...
https://www.hondata.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=25657

Decided to open the ECU case and here's what I found. The Hondata board was sitting up just barely contacting the pins. The screw had backed off almost 1/4" and the other screw was finger tight. Seated the board back down, blue loctite to the scews and back in business. Observers on track actually say the car sound different and the idle feels smoother. Not sure if it was going into some backup calibration every time the board jiggled off the pins or what.

Quite relieved it's fixed! Not sure if this also relates to all the grounding and crank sensor issues we had in the beginning.

Booger has brake ducts! Went with SuperMiata's setup on Vegas. Ducts don't seal to hub due to BS but has to be an improvement over nothing. Very excited to see how they work on track and may also help with lowering IATs by just moving a bit more air under the airdam.

Question Need a little tech help...

This is a great thread and amazing car! I'm in the middle of building a 93 with the k24a2 swap for my high school son to autoX. I'm using the current Kpower full kit (ordered in Feb '22 and received 3 weeks ago). The engine is complete and in the car, but now comes the electrical. I'm a mechanical guy, so up to this point, nothing has been too challenging. The electrical....scares the poop out of me.
We purchased two harnesses from K-Power, so not using anything from the TSX the engine came from. Is there anyone in here that can virtually coach, or assist with just a little common sense guidance on how to mate up the harnesses, new hondata ecu, and existing miata wiring?? I'm in NE Tennessee, and would even travel to see how you may have done yours.
We've missed most of the summer season due to shipping delays, but trying to salvage the final bit.
Many Thanks!!!

If you purchased both the chassis and engine harness from KPower... just follow their install guide. It's that easy.

Miata vs McLaren... Anyone know what model it is? Beautiful car and wicked fast!

IAT 105 ECT 201. 93 degree day with a heat advisory feels like 103.
