I would not advise putting any effort into making it do things until you have a working TPS.

LittleCarBigFun 05-21-2018 12:53 PM

Makes sense. Even got the jumper on the vtps nodes and that did nothing. Double checked the wiring and nothing. But I did also find out the shop didn't plumb my intake idle tube into the piping, which was causing bad idling. I'll have to rig something up

concealer404 05-21-2018 12:54 PM

Skunk2 intake manifold and NB IAC setup.

LittleCarBigFun 05-21-2018 12:56 PM

That won't work on my dumpster fire 1.6 though will it?

concealer404 05-21-2018 01:00 PM

Oh that's right.

Ok then source UK market NB 1.6 manifold and throttle body.

LittleCarBigFun 05-21-2018 01:13 PM

Gotcha, gonna be a tough look for one those. Thanks!

concealer404 05-21-2018 01:15 PM

Probably easier to do a VVT swap and leave it n/a.

LittleCarBigFun 05-21-2018 01:16 PM

Eh, if I swap it, it'll be ecotec. And for that I'll leave it at my local shop while I'm on deployment. 6 months should be plenty of time for that.

concealer404 05-21-2018 01:18 PM

One bad idea to the next. I like it. You go hard.

LittleCarBigFun 05-21-2018 01:19 PM

Is there something wrong with the ecotec swap?

concealer404 05-21-2018 01:22 PM

Probably hard to find in the search function amongst all the Brain/18psi/Concealer404 circle jerks, but you'd probably have had to intentionally avoid every mention of "Ecotec" on various Miata forums to miss them.

Which also makes the idea pretty obviously un-researched.

LittleCarBigFun 05-21-2018 01:33 PM

Alright, alright. I've looked it up multiple times before but haven't heard much in the way of bad reliability. I know the engine mounts are harsh and it's not the best for the street, but it seems like a great bump in power.

I think the ecotec is a POS junk motor personally. K series swap is the one to go with IMO.

concealer404 05-21-2018 01:44 PM

I agree. This car needs a K swap.

LittleCarBigFun 05-21-2018 01:50 PM

Maybe this time around I'll just go with "to hell with budget". Spend the money once. Even though I already spent it...

concealer404 05-21-2018 01:53 PM

Now you're thinking with your dipstick, Jimmy.

don't drag me into this. I don't ecotec or even kswap circle jerk.
I just tell everyone to turbo their BP

concealer404 05-21-2018 01:57 PM

Nah i mean in general. There's nothing in the search function here besides you and i participating in a good old fashioned Dutch Rudder.

DrKarrot 05-24-2018 01:10 AM

This car now belongs to me. I have no need for a second MKturbo Miata, and the most prudent move would be an immediate part out and transfer of the good bits to my car. That, howvever, is no fun and would be a sad end so I am going to make a concerted effort to getting it moving.
