Wrapped up some heat shielding by the turbo. Also wrapped the resonator as the kraken piece sits right under the fuel tank.
I have some fun stuff coming in the mail soon. My giant winter list is almost done!

Nice brackets, they look familiar

Nutserts on the brake bracket are a good idea. The bolt on mine is always a bit annoying to get a wrench on.

Looks great! Another fun project would be to box in that intake for a cold air intake behind the headlight. FM sells the kit and it's cheap (relative to me spending hours to make it), I made it work with my Kraken kit and I love it.

Enjoy the car!

Good points- I also have hood vents going in and will be waiting to do that once I get my replacement outerwear’s water resistant filter cover. I’ll probably do the DEI form a shield as the FM has an asterisk on the 1.6 filter location.

I knew this step was gonna be fun. Made some huge steps on the shielding today:
I ended up going with a oe style splash tray and some $5 24x36” hdpe truck mudflaps. I’ve read way too many ducting threads so I had a good idea on the weak points and what to address.
On the factory crash bar I was able to cut the top and bottom to gain some more sq inches.
I also found a great spot for flat plastic to cover the tow hook holes.
For the intercooler sides I cut down the air guide side pieces.
On the Air Guide, I noticed it’s just straight across from the bumper-to-splash shield. I just made a flat piece to connect them; this also allowed an inch gap and mounting point under and onto the intercooler!
For filling in the 2 inch gap below the radiator, I connected the to side pieces with flat plastic and aluminum angle iron to keep it straight and also close up the rest of the radiator gap.
Last part will be cutting out my trace for the hood latch cover; and then cutting the hood vent holes..

Looks good! I've never seen anyone cut and bend the lower tabs on the crash bar before. Clever.

Between that ducting and some hood vents, you should be pretty set. Which vents did you go with?

Yeah Im gonna wait on a tubular crash bar. Only so much time. So yeah i noticed the stamping came down quite a bit; you can see it opened up quite a bit viewing it as the air comes in. A full inch rolled back. On the top i gained about a 1/2".

I'm hoping it does ok. Seeing 195 now on drives (195 thermo)

I went with the RGR 5pc set for $115

I dig the stock crash bar modifications too. I was considering doing something like that on mine before a tubular crash bar showed up from a local friend and I just went that route.

Got the RGR hood vents in.

Angle grinder and 3” wheel. Flipped hood over and pre drilled vents in place on bottom with a 1/16 bit. Flipped hood back over and re drilled for final alignment with 1/8 for rivets.

This feels appropriate since I also used my Ryobi drill to install RGR hood vents this weekend. Nice work! Any issues using the angle grinder? I've heard mixed review on cutting vents with them.

Ryobi master race. I still have some old blue colored tools that I got as a gift. I like the one+ promise. I’ve been looking at the Power Station generator for handiness..

well, I can see the NBs have a curve; which is tougher to cut.

I used a 3/8 drill bit on all the corners so wouldn’t have to do anything other than straight lines with the angle grinder.

Gurney flaps: no clue what kind of aluminum this is and how many bends I’ll get haha. I just got the front one more vertical than the 3 rears.

i used a map torch to preheat and a putty knife to bend it. First vent took 10 minutes, and the last one took 30 seconds…

I just bent them by hand and didn't have any issues, although I do worry about adjusting them much. Wouldn't want to lose a fin.

I've debated on the gurney flap effectiveness on these since the front flap isn't sealed. I also don't know how big of a difference that makes.. I definitely considered getting some 90 degree aluminum from HDR and trying to rivet that to the fronts.

I'll be interested to see what kind of difference you notice (or don't).

Yeah I’ve done ‘all the things’ this winter so I don’t find out downside is I won’t know what was individually effective.

if I understand the gurney, it’s about creating disturbance/LP on the backside. The gap is pretty small in front of that first flap. Idk!

I haven’t got above 92/197 before these vents went in. -but again, no ac,ps, csf rad.

Lookin good man! Looks like you have "all the cooling" which is good, and like you I was happy to do it all at once and not try to piecemeal things and worry about overheating. No a/c or ps definitely cleans things up and allows for much easier ducting/etc. and likely airflow. No big condenser blocking flow I'm sure is a big help. I'll be curious to watch temps this weekend at the track as it's gonna be high 80's low 90's and sunny, so a good measure of temps. I'm not expecting any excitement as the temps were on the low side of normal (210F oil peak, 200F water temp) last track day with temps in the low 60's, but you never know..

I wonder to what degree if any the front hood vents also help front aero (either providing some downforce or reducing lift).

Hey Z get with the KPA game! just messin.
That was 8-9 psi. 7psi spring, iwg75, 10psi to 4500, then trying to get to 12-13 peak.

Here is this mornings' 10-11.5psi run. I know my timing is conservative for E60+-, so either way its all smiles. Still honing in open loop boost control.

Looking good! ~200 WHP is a great place to be. Lots of fun and well within the realm of reliability on stock everything.

Been a great few days. I have had good success with Closed Loop boost control in the current temps of 60-90.
The wildest part is the duty% at high rpms on a hot day is 40% where as in the morning its only 28%, reinforcing how wild those swings are to maintain the same boost based on what the temperature is.
I'm very happy with this and the driver mod will need to catch up severely.
I hit:
10psi at 4400
11psi at 5200
12psi at 6400 on up

Those are the averages on most of my runs, and I'm going to keep it that conservative for a while. CL Boost is trying to help spool which is nice. I do also target 150kpa/7psi at 3200 but I have no desire at the moment to push this with the events I would like to hit this year.

My valve cover mods are working great on the STREET. I have no oil reach the catch can surprisingly after a couple hundred miles.

Heres how she sits. Got the hardtop painted. The whole car is a little ragged, which is great and means I never have to wax it

Great work. Car looks awesome, I love a function > form track toy. And 200whp is perfect for a track miata with room to grow! It's gonna blow your mind the first time on track.
