I was gonna say it must've been the same guy that welded my Exocet steering rack mounts but it looks like that was a us built Rocket?

 

He said it was a UK Rocket and the welds look like it. Exomotive might have some issues with welding some times but the UK kits look like a kindergartener welded it. The metal on the tubing is WAY to think. Side impact would cut it in 1/2.

You using rubber grommets on those holes sir?

 

I have to fine something that is soft enough to go over the metal foot thing whatever you call it and meet the od of the hole with id of the cable.

 

Split the grommet. It will work just as well, and you can use something firm enough to hold the cable in place.

I do that kind of thing for a living. Design work (at least where I am now) is mostly about finding the proper parts to put together.

 

any reason you couldnt mount higher instead of directly behind the top cage bars?

They don't have a mounting option that would get it any higher.

 

according to exo motive the majority of disturbed air flows over the wing.

 

I take everything Exomotive says with a grain of salt at this point. Kevin is a nice guy, helps me whenever he can, and I would send him my business again but some much info was missing or wrong so far. If you bought a US spec Exocet in a year or so it would be a good car. The version 1 stuff so far has been a nightmare so far.

 

It certainly looks like the holes for the brackets could have been drilled about 10 inches higher up on the down bars.

And the comment about the turbulent air coming off of the bars needing to be above the wing is pretty silly when you view the location of the top of the seatback and think about what that would do to the airflow. It would certainly cause me to question the other logic of the asserter of that opinion.

 

There is a welded and tapped platform the mount sits on so it's not a simple drill more holes and move the mount up.

 

I think he meant exomitive could have originally equipped it that way. Which was kind of my point in my original post.

 

Just making sure no one questions my ability to mount a wing at the right height =D

Additionally moving the wing up moves it more forward too, which means the distance (moment) acting on the rear suspension would act more in the middle of the car. Same amount of downforce but applied more evenly front and back.
