No Money, Having Fun Exocet

Lots of photos and info will be posted to https://www.facebook.com/NMHFR

We are working with Hanchey Vehicle Tech to get the most out of the frame.

Yes there is currently a MP62 in the build but will be switching to a build VVT or k20/24 once we figure out power to weight and points for TT classing. Current goal is TT3 with over head in the motor to bump up easily.

Kit gets here tomorrow. Will have unpacking photos. No one cares about photos of taking apart an NB.

I've been working with a friend on the now discontinued "Lightweight" Exocet kit, the one that does not use the Miata subframes but does use all the other suspension bits. Its been a riot thus far.

I've said it about 10,000 times before, but if I ever wad up the Miata its salvageable guts are going into an Exocet.

Get out of my head! If I fold this this on the track all the parts are going into a catfish(money willing) or a DIY Exocet frame. You can find the plans on the Exocet forums for free. Just depends how pretty you want to make it.

In for unboxing of awesomeness.

Been chatting with the dad about an Exocet in his new retirement. So need pics to prove the epic. I'm willing to donate my daily as a guts care.

Had to refuse delivery of the shipment.... They scraped the packaging open and gouged the powder coating. Not sure what is going to happen now and how long it will take to get resolved.

Damn, that sucks. :(

Its obviously ruined. Have them send it out this way, I'd be happy to take it off your hands :)

Went right back on the truck. $750 in shipping cost.... I was not taking any chances.

I would do the same thing. I mean, if you're paying that much those rtards better figure out how not to scratch it up, and maybe be more careful in the future.

I'm kinda puzzled here though: your title says "no money", and you're building basically a racecar when you had a decent running miata already. Is this one of those "no money to make it faster, so lets make it lighter" situations?

either way, always enjoy me a nice exocet thread

So the 99 is a 100ft car. Up close it's a shit box and the car was terminal. We could not corner balance it or get it to align properly so a tub swap was coming. A nice tub with a spec cage was in the 2000 range but I wanted something different.

In the end the car will be a 10th of the cost of cars running the same lap times. Also will be close to owning a open wheel aero car that you can street from time to time and stick a passage in at also at less cost.

At some point I'd love to take all my shiny nice bits and put them into an exocet like frame(diy route instead of exocet). I could get a decent penny for my shell after all the work I did on it too.

That is only if I go off the deep end with doing track events though.

Did I read that right? YOU were charged $750 to return the frame due to their negligence? If so....bollocks.

No that is the original freight cost and if I signed for it I would be on the hook for what every has to be done to fix it. Not like a $10 return shipping on a broken gauge or something.

UPS has now tried to deliver a frame after damaging the repaired one in the exact same way. The return trip to Exomotive they fucked it up so bad they are going to have to scrap it and build a whole new frame.

Geeze, that has to be torture. Good call on sending it back though, that spot would be an eyesore the rest of it's life.

EO2K 09-29-2014 03:35 PM

Wow, on the top too. Cos like, forklift operator can't see the top when moving it around in the warehouse :jerkit:

Jeffbucc 09-29-2014 04:03 PM

I'd be flipping tables by now. Talk about pathetic.

Efini~FC3S 09-30-2014 09:10 AM

Le Suck

How long to get another frame built?

Midtenn 09-30-2014 05:34 PM

I would say Exomotive needs to redesign their packaging to be UPS/fork truck operator safe. Not that its ultimately their fault, but it would save them some headache.
