hey light year, deer park motor wreckers have a 1.6 for about $600, its a runner & i think it has 3 months warranty on it, if you want me to check it they still have it let me know, i work around the corner, & if you need a hand to see whats wrong with it yell out !!

could be rings & a head gasket if your lucky, does it still pull well? is it making any noises?

I would be interested in a complete motor. I will grab it if they still have it and it has o.k compression. At least i can go out and use the car straight away. It makes good power in the lower gears. But going down the straight it felt a bit flat.

I bought a used motor for $350 put all the accesories from my motor on. It had an even 190psi on all cylinders. I quiclky run it up on a dyno to check air/fuel mixtures. It made only 110rwkw's, before it had 143rwkw's. The only difference is the head on the old motor is ported and polished. And it has an hks intake cam. It's hard to believe it makes that much difference. I raced at sandown on sunday, it felt good in the lower gears, but i could't get it to rev past 6,600 in 4th going up the hill on the back straight. Before it would rev willingly to 7,800. With the carbon fibre doors and torsen diff on since last time there, i managed to lower my p.b. On average about 1 second faster, not bad for a big loss of power. So now we are going to strip the old motor, give it a freshen up, stick it back in and give the record a nudge at phillip isalnd on the 3rd of july.

Don't think so. The guy i bought it off had rebuilt it 3 years or so ago and put it in a lotus clubman type car to get it regoed or something. He now has an sr20det. It did less than 10,000km's since rebuild, but sat in his garage for a while 2-3 years. It was manual when it was in his car.
