What's your timetable for "just about to" on that harness? Right now I've got messages out to a bunch of the usual suspect Miata dismantlers stateside (Redline, SNS, etc) to see if anyone would be willing to just lop that whole connector off a harness with about 10" of wire. Unfortunately there are a couple other Scotchlok T taps on other wires in that same bundle which I'm sure are horribly undersized for that gauge of wire. From there I can depin the wires I need and fix each with a single splice. If that doesn't work out and depending on your timetable we can probably make that happen!

I did the same refurbish to mine (NA), naturally using the revlimiter writeup as a guide. Didn't really make much of a difference in the long run. I think the key switch itself is worn, meaning it doesn't turn the contacts like it's supposed to.

Old habits die hard. I've got The Fat of the Land blasting in my office right now. hah!
I'm just going to hack that whole ignition switch pigtail off with as much wire as I can reach under the dash (minimum 12") and I'll send you beer money. Or shipping if that's how it works out. There's a couple of these on ebay at the moment but they are either completely ratfucked with vampire taps from other shitty alarm installs or the wiring pigtails are like 2" long and I need WAY more wire than that to fix my harness.
Honestly, I'm sure that's what I'll eventually end up doing. I figured I'd at least try this first as it gives me an idea of the condition of the switch (which helps me troubleshoot things) and cost me nothing but time, which I think we've learned that I ascribe 0 value to at this point.
I had actually considered doing Adam's S2000 Starter Button conversion on the NB because its only the crank position contacts that are screwed up on mine, as far as I can tell. But genuine replacement Honda switches aren't $35 anymore and I don't want to go down the rabbit hole trying to mod a system that is already causing me reliability issues. The $135+ for a Stook switch buys me at least 3 OE Miata keyswitches, and my last one held up for 21 years. Hard to argue with that. With that kind of longevity, by the time a new one wears out we'll all be banned from driving cars anyway.

Made me smile.
And yeah, the price of S2k start buttons is out of hand. I have a single spare in my spare parts stash. I'm still on my first which has worked well for over 21 years, but I worry when that spare will get called to service and leave me needing another at $$$whatever they're going for then.

Haha! Excellent! Love the site BTW, I've been pointing people over there for probably a decade now.
Wow, that made me feel old.
Also, I'm jealous of you Cappuccino. There, I said it. My fatass probably wouldn't even fit in the thing and yet I still want one even though I'm trapped in California emissions hell.
Bah, your original will last forever. It is an OE Honda part after all! I actually bought a brand new one from HandA back in Feb of 2012 after reading the install instructions on your site! Then I sold it to @aidandj in Jan of 2015. Looking at the invoice in my email apparently I bought 2x of them... I wonder where the second one went?

It's not helping that my garage looks like an episode of Hoarders. Its a 2 car garage and there is a car in there, but people often can't find it unless they know what to look for

Pics removed, move on, these are not the plugs you are looking for ...
Well, if at first you don't succeed, ...
maybe you just keep on looking ...
That looks like what you are looking for? That's a 98 ADM NB8A, its got the heavy white/black wire, and it seems to be in the right place. Waddayarekkin?

I did the BRB "fix" years ago, but I opted to use a switch from Summit instead of sullying my car with a part from a Honda. You can't beat the $12.99 price and it (almost) fits perfectly into the spot vacated by the cigarette lighter.

Sent you a PM
Hah! That's awesome. I might consider something like that for the NA, and yeah, $13 is hard to beat.
If you wanted an actual Mazda part, I believe the ND comes with a push-to-start button. I think I saw a Mazda PN that included some wiring somewhere? It's been a while. It's certainly not going to be $13

It's funny I read this after getting my NB harness out of the garage attic for a completely different reason ... lemme go look at it again. Should have it. You want that 6 way connector with all wires for how far back? 12 inches?
edit: this guy right?

...because apparently I missed this post you made back on 9/10 ... in this thread
Go update your build thread, I thought your new garage ate you or something!
