When I talked to you at Mid-O you mentioned she cut-out and wouldn't re-fire. You figure out the issues yet?

While the K motor itself is wonderfully reliable and makes easy power, K Miatas products are not the highest quality in my experience. Justin Lee has a K Miata trans kit in the WRL V6 car and at Mid-O last October we were fighting issues with driveline vibration and sloppy driveshaft joints that ate 3 output shaft seals and stripped out the adapter piece. Not to mention the numerous issues Greg Peters has had on his car.

I have a K-Miata BMW trans kit and have no problems with the custom driveshaft. It was made by a driveshaft shop and isn't something made in house by them according to the packaging.

Sometimes outside suppliers get it wrong, so taking it to a local driveshaft shop to have the balance and components checked would have been on my list after first indication of trouble. Even brand new u-joints can fail.

I had good responses out of them for every question I had.

2020 NASA ST rules are official, and the submission calculator is updated/live.
https://www.nasaproracing.com/rules
https://community.drivenasa.com/topi...ions-proposed/

Toyo RR is added to the 100tw category and therefore gets a +.5 credit and is available in 245/40/15. That becomes pretty attractive.

I am considering 225/45 RR on 9" for less contested events/practice setup as it "pays for" my splitter(-.5). That lets me run at 150/2265 with splitter/wing at my current power.
Using 205 R7 on an 8" requires me to add 75lbs(at 150avg whp)

I’ve been wanting to confirm this combination for a while now, and finally had all the parts on hand at one time.

11.75” Trackspeed “Mega” BBK. (Wilwood Superlite, 7420 pad)
15x9.5” +29 Konig Freeform
no spacer needed, plenty of room.

Consumable cost economy almost makes sense as a single set of front pads might last a whole ST5 sprint racing season.

Good to know those fit. I was wondering. Supposedly the 9" dekagram fits too. Opens up the wheel options for sure.

I took a few months off Miata-ing from NASA Champs until after New Years. Felt good to disconnect from this car for a while, and I feel recharged for 2020 efforts.

Keegan Engineering is going to help get the engine package up to GLTC power level. So I pulled the lump and it’s leaving today.

I’m still focusing primarily on NASA ST5/TT5 for 2020, but will be making a couple mods that take penalties in that ruleset so the car is better for GLTC and just fun local HPDE stuff with friends.

Unless the stars align, I won’t be making the tow to Utah, so Miata Reunion is probably my farthest travel plan.

2020 Goals:
-Sub 1:37 Mid Ohio Club Course N/A BP
-Drive VIR again
-Drive Road Atlanta for the first time.
-Sweet new Tarmac 88 livery.

Presuambly you are aware they had a problem in the first batch or so with one of the pieces in the kit?

I had unreal (read frghtening) vibration and got sent a replacement part. Between that and a drive shaft balance it has mostly gone away now.

I too found them incredibly helpfull and very keen to work through any issues. Coudln't recommend them enough.

Anyway, sorry to hijack.

What kind of power are you aiming for in GLTC trim? I know most of the Miatas are running (or swaping to) K24's. A few dumb people (Cody and I) are sticking to low boost BP's.

I've been thinking of going that route, too, so can appreciate the dumbs at work here.

~165 peak is my target for ST5's 158 average power at 2450lbs.
I plan on running a splitter, and pulling all 250lbs of NASA ballast out, so it will be a very light(~2180) car on 205s, probably.

If it's that light, you may need to talk to @concealer404 about jounce testing it.

I'm happy to avail myself and my services if you need some scientific testing.

I’m undecided on the headlights. I have satin black for them like the “rendering”, but covering them with the white/color gradient would also be cool.

I have to make a decision on the build plan concerning splitter vs airdam-only, before I wrap one of the airdams.

I’ve wrapped a few commercial vans/trucks in my past, but never worked with panels this large on such a curvy car before. So I’m learning a ton as I go.
The rear bumper and hardtop will likely get 3-4 pieces with seams. They’ll both have two colors, and each color with need two pieces.

Cool concept. Makes for entertaining discussions on what car you're driving:

What are you doing differently with the engine build to hit the power target?

Compression and cams.
Keegan has a custom cam grind he’s gonna throw in it, and a set of 84mm Wisecos instead of the OEM JDM 83.5mm.
