You can always change them out if you think it is a little weak. I just don't see it being enough for a performance set up, but I only know one set up well.
If you want a second opinion, you should consider calling Pierce Manifold. |

Corbeaus are in. I sit way too high in them. They are okay for now, but I will need to modify the bracketry eventually to lower myself.
Right now the subs sit under the seats. This is going to have to change I think. I want to cut out the stock seat mounts which sit 3" off the ground, and bolt the seats to the floor. Anyways, they fix the big issues which I didn't like about the old seats. They were too slippery, too hot, too tall, sliders were broke, head rest was broke, dirty, and just too wide for the car. https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1403304911 https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1403304911 https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1403304911 https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1403304911 |
Sexy! I'm glad they didn't get jacked. The brackets don't have enough adjustability?
|
There is no way to make them lower. The OEM mounting points are just waaay too high.
And yea, fedex came out and realized that they put them on the wrong patio some how. Guy barely spoke english. Oh well. |

I installed my 16mm air horns today. I had to grab a set of smaller size horns to fit under the air filter. Some people run them without any horns with this filter, but I just can't imagine that being very good. There are grooves cut in for air horns to fit, and without them it looks like the air flow would be quite bad.
I'm keeping the longer ones for if I plan to go to any bigger car shows. I'll put screens on them so I still get some filtration, but also get the cool quad intake look. I'm in AZ so the dust is really bad, which is why I want to DD with the real filters. https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1403311717 https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1403311717 https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1403311717 |
I miss playing with carbs.

build a new air filter tray that is deeper to allow the long horns with the air filter element.

At that point I would just get some uni-filters and keep the long horns. The problem is the brake booster is already up against the ramflo filters I'm using with the small horns. If I try and use that type of filter with the longer horns then I won't have enough room. Space is tightttttttttttt.
Example, the 3rd cylinder filter has to be angled up because of the booster https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1403488147 |

Hate waiting on parts and free time with this staring at me.

What other parts do you need? It is going to look awesome when you get it done.

Waiting on my header with o2 bung, and the cable linkage. But I still have to do the transmission swap first which is going to eat up 1-2 days worth of time. Then I want the exhaust, wideband, new gas pedal, and fuel squared away. Then finally the carbs.

Back on topic.
Yesterday was a ton of work. A lot of new parts on. Since I pulled the engine I ended up doing the oil pan gasket, water pump, rear main seal, and start the conversion to dual carbs. Fun stuff! I had already pulled the transmission separately so pulling the engine was super easy. Going back in the transmission was attached and that was a pain with just one person. But it eventually went in. Engine out and doing the oil pan. Cleaned it out really good, everything under the engine looks very clean. https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1403978482 This little bitch was nearly the death of me: Pilot bearing. BMW used a shitty needle bearing so this needs to be replaced fairly often. https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1403978482 New rear main seal back on with pilot bearing https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1403978482 New Aluminum flywheel https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1403978482 Glad I decided to replace these: https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1403978482 Exhaust... wtf... happy to be replacing this https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1403978482 Old: http://http://i1368.photobucket.com/...ps3dd8a955.jpg New: https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1403978482 New intake gaskets, getting ready for the cannon manifolds https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1403978482 Manifolds on, had to grind down the manifold a tiny bit to get some of the bolts on, they are a TIGHT fit https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1403978482 Clutch on https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1403978482 Exhaust on, looks lovely https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1403978482 BMW used these really hard plastic lines for everything, fuel, brakes, clutch... replaced it with an ss line, clutch should feel much better. Luckily the brakes had been converted to hard lines before I got the car. https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1403978482 Ready to go in... so nice looking https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1403978482 Filled up the trans with some redline fluid, hopefully I can keep this one from dying on me like the last. https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1403978482 In she goes. Very tough stuffing this thing back in. The engine bay is taller and shorter than a miata. Luckily the trans is quite small so it isn't horrible. Had to go at it with a pretty steep angle. The bay looks really bad in this photo, but it actually looks pretty good in person. https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1403978482 I really love this heat shield that came with the headers. The spark plug wires run right above it and before they were getting really hot, had to wrap them in some heat resistant sheathing. Now it shouldn't be much of a problem, and looks pretty clean. https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1403978482 I also pulled the A/C compressor which weighed about 15 pounds. I wanted to cut out the battery tray and clean up the engine bay a bit more, but I just ran out of time yesterday. I had to get the engine back in so I could close the garage, and I had gf obligations last night so I couldn't work really late. The engine is in, but I need to drill the holes for the new transmission mount. Lots of work left before she is running, I probably need another whole day, but not sure when that will happen. |
Very cool progress. Report back on how it all feels now with so many goodies on it.
You really need to hit that engine with a pressure washer and some simple green or purple power though. My OCD was twitching seeing those oil stains and grime |

That exhaust pipe looks like arterial schlerosis. Try a low-cholestorol diet.
|
Low-cholestorol but high in fuel and air ;)
