The big difference between Home Depot Racing spoilers and fancy carbon fiber wings is the downforce to drag ratio.

I would take an actual apr/singular wing over my spoiler and day of the week in a heartbeat. There is no argument that my spoiler is better. But for $30 you can't beat it.

sixshooter Nov 30, 2016 05:26 PM

Spoilers slow the air over the surfaces preceding them, reducing lift. Wings create down force or negative lift. They operate in very different ways.

Woah, woah, woah! Lets not turn this into a high level aerodynamics discussion, because nobody wants that.

So I got myself a few christmas presents.

1. Racing beat 1.125" sway bar with the brace blocks.

2. 949 Racing Endlinks

3. Blackbird Fabworks GT3 roll bar.

I actually went down to SoCal to pick everything up so I got the chance to meet Moti from blackbird and Dan and Sonny from 949 Racing. Super nice people. I could have talked for hours with Sonny about anything miata related. I also got try out the quaife sequential that was in taxi (Not driving just sitting still).

I installed the sway bar and end links today and felt a massive difference in turn in response as well as some reduced body roll. I dint take any pics because its been done 1.3 billion times before.

Roll bar installation will be soon.

The 949 Racing end links are BALLER! They are by far the nicest and easiest I have ever used on a miata.

I quite like them. only took me about 10min to set up.

icantlearn Dec 25, 2016 03:12 AM

So when I was installing the sway bar I had to remove one of the intercooler couplers. And I saw this....

That is more than a spoon full to put it in perspective. The turbo is relatively new so I have a hard time believing it is the seals. It COULD be that the turbo needs a oil restrictor but nobody else has this issue with the efr turbos so I'm shitting my pants right now. :bang:

aidandj Dec 25, 2016 07:27 AM

Efrs have built in restrictors. Check the drain line for kinds or blockage.

sixshooter Dec 25, 2016 01:26 PM

Check @Ryan_G 's build thread for the same problem on a EFR.

Ryan_G Dec 25, 2016 01:28 PM

How big is your oil drain line? I have found that the 8AN minimum recommendation is not adequate. It needs to be at least 10AN or 5/8".

sixshooter Dec 25, 2016 01:33 PM

Tell him about using a threaded fitting in the drain hole. Do you have any pictures from the analysis they did talking about the fitting?

aidandj Dec 25, 2016 01:37 PM

He has a TSE kit. Which uses a flange fitting and 10AN lines.

Ah yes. I had my turbo serviced by a Borg Warner master distributor for this issue. It was under warranty. They said the seals were fine but the oil drain was too small and the oil drain fitting protruded too much into the housing requiring the oil to pool up prior to draining. The technician suggested using a flanged fitting that does not thread into the NPT bung.

This. The oil drain is massive. So I don't think it is kinked or clogged. It just seems to huge to cause any issue.

Paging Savington.

sixshooter Dec 25, 2016 02:47 PM

Well, that's probably not the problem then. Just seemed like a good thing to check.

aidandj Dec 25, 2016 03:48 PM

Do you have shaft play?

No not in the slightest bit.
