New motor is being painted and then dressed. Old engine/trans are out so I can do 20 years worth of cleaning. Car is in surprisingly good shape when you add up the 230k miles of road grime and abuse.

A new, local powder coating shop opened up and I'm really thinking about having the intake manifold and compressor housing done while the engine is still on the stand.

On my list now is a bunch of cleaning and maintenance items. Hopefully ordering the Clutch Overhaul Kit from 949 as well as their Hybrid Motor Mounts. Might snag a fuel pump from them, too. Water pump and timing assembly will be changed, as well. I'm really on the fence about a billet oil pump, though. Any good reason not to do it?

Such a mess.

Except I still lift.

Edit: Before this inevitably derails, does anyone have any good reasons for avoiding the billet oil pump? I think I have everything else covered or sourced.

Several folks have had there oil pump relief valve stick after installing one, damaging their motor with a part that was supposed to prevent damage. I know stock pumps are a known weak link and all, but my 500whp, 9000 RPM BP didn't get the message.

That's what I've read, but wasn't able to get an accurate % in relation to people who haven't had issues or if this was a system failure or user failure. I'll be using the LNC B6 so I hardly have a thought as to whether or not that means the stock pump is more fragile than a BP pump.

I'm honestly not certain if this intake manifold would even benefit from the extra rpm's.

My stock pump failed with a sticky relief valve. Now I have the Boundary unit.

I would consider the new Blackbird engine mounts over the 949 Hybrid mounts. They have a much thicker bushing than the normal AWR style.

Thanks to a box full of dusty **** parts and hand-me-downs, another pre-2010 build should be on the road by next year

This is a street car that's going to see zero track time. Would you still recommend them?

If you are going to turbo the car or if it already is I would not get blackworx lowering mounts. Only because yours downpipe might not work with it, and hit the subframe.

Yeah I'll definitely avoid those. By the way, Lars, I messaged you on Facebook. Messaged Brain but he doesn't love me anymore.

I have the 949 mounts and not really that bad on the street. The internals were balanced when I build the motor though. My buddy thinks it's smoother than his 1.6 on Mazda comp mounts, I think he's lying and think the balance was the magic. I can't vouch for the Blackbird ones, but looking at the design I would probably go with them. Same basic design with more softness.

I run 949 softest mounts on a rods only motor and it shook a lot. With my balanced motor it's like a 80-90% reduction in vibration, very streetable mounts with a balanced motor, and I'm picky about NHV.

I heard the reason Brain sold his car was because you wouldn't sell that intake manifold back to him.
