Zumin's miata build

Zumin's miata build
well, its looking like I'm actually going to keep this car for a little while, or at least spend some money on it…
i sold the speed3, then the 240, then the civic…. and now the miata is my daily. i picked it up at the beginning of summer for $1000.
1997 Miata Montego Blue mica (originally and will once again be so shortly) 120K miles, 5 speed, cold A/C etc.
the night i brought her home...
i bought the car with horrid paint as most of you know. fact-o-bake for the fail. the interior was all there and other than a tear in the seat, was in good but dirty shape (women…). the car was 100% stock, and other than a few oil leaks from the valve cover gasket and the CAS the engine bay was great.
a little bit of cleaning under the hood and seats… all was well!
i sprayed the VC the same color as the brakes on the speed3
a few weeks after i bought the car, 2 things came into my life… one increased my masculinity while the other… didn't. they go so well together…
those are Konig WideOpens and his name is…. Enkie!
he has grown into a bit of a bad ***…
but i digress…
i got a great deal on a set of Nitto 225/50s, even though they were a little larger than i wanted in the sidewall department, i couldn't say no.
rolled the fenders and installed a free set of lowering springs on to a new set of shocks…
notice the dent!!!! ill get to that soon in my next post
it isn't the desired set up, a shorter tire and some coilovers are in the plans eventually. with this set up and missing 3rd gear due to a missing shifter bushing i took it to the track:
i think my fastest time was a 9.9x… i managed a 2.2 60ft after i figured out i could effectively launch off redline and hook pretty well.
i figured it was time to at least "mod" something… i bought a used exintake of Miataturbo and a test pipe. installed it all and bumped the timing up 8 degrees with a 5$ timing light that i found at Advance auto parts on a discontinued shelf, HELL YES! i threw on a cone filter on the stock intake piping and thats it...
aside from a small lope when the idle gets around 700 and a little more umph on the highway, the mods were VERY modest. (maybe a broke 100 whp?)
i had S13beast do a suede shift boot for me, and i picked up a set of MOMO seats from Relentless Motorsports (wink wink, nudge nudge)
now that pretty much brings me to where i am now… ill start working on that post in a bit.
right now we are working on paint. after that I'm planning on getting the roll bar ordered with a decent set of restraints, then its time to start working on going fast. ive got a GT2510 that ill probably pick up and a set of rx7 460cc injectors (thank you F&D). I'm slowly collecting parts for the turbo install. Relentless will be building my manifold, turbo back exhaust, and IC piping.
i really need to decide what I'm going to do about tuning, I'm starting to think a MS from reverent on miataturbo is the best way to go… oh well, i won't be biting that bullet until i recover from this paint job.

ok, ive been very busy! had to replace the left quarter, trunk lid, and fuel door. the car had a good bit of bondo on it when i bought it and a cheap *** paint job. after about a month and a half, its done. i just got it back last night and stayed up till 6am putting it all back together and clean. i drove down town and snapped a few pics. i still need to sand the car and buff it out, but that'll be a couple of weeks.
all in all i spent 700$ in labor, 450$ in paint, and ~400$ in replacement parts. i used Shop Line paint. Montego Blue Mica… its pretty crazy in the sun. it will shift from dark blue to an emerald green. Baller!

About half way through the process i made the car "street legal" to make it to our Bi-anual meet.
Look how big he's gotten!!!!!!
Got a new keychain…. hopefully ill have the real hardware in the near future.
While i didn't have the car i sanded down all the marker lenses and hit them with one light coat of VHT, and i repainted the Headlight surrounds.
i got a little powder coating done. i also had the door handles done in black...
