Canada is going through a serious bank run right now. And not surprisingly, it's not being widely reported. It's because people who donated $10/$20/$50 to the truckers had accounts frozen. Now that the "emergency" is over, people are pulling their accounts. If freezing accounts is not rights being taken away, I don't know what qualifies.
And tomorrow we'll watch the combined Congressional houses sitting together, without mask requirements. You've got enough VND's (very nearly dead) in the crowd that Covid could wipe out a third of the House and Senate, but apparently masks aren't that needed after all...

Run on Canada Banks?
So it seems you have no problem with family bank accounts being frozen over a $50 dollar donation. That puts you on "team skinny moustache."
Now all the banks are seeing a run on their money. There are lines out the door, daily limits, and a fear that some banks will even fail.

I'm not sure I know exactly what transpired in Canada. They may have over reacted, or the reaction may have been appropriate. Regardless, I don't believe absolute freedom exists...nor should it.

Here is decent NYT summary of the events; I would argue their protest not only bordered on the absurd to begin with (demands to lift public health mandates), but quickly devolved into a demonstration for and by secessionists. I'm not sure how that movement is perceived in Canada.

Hold on to your value judgements. The BLM protests were not consistently met with high praise or peaceful tolerance either. Second, public support matters; some political thinkers believe it may be all that matters. Does it not provide legitimacy for a movement? I would be wary of a false equivalency between these events and consider each on their own.
