I get that DJT didn't get anything close to a fair shake, and I think he would make a good president from a policy perspective, again. I just don't want another 6 years of liberal screeching about him.

But just so you know, I give no quarter to the libs. I WILL NOT vote for the party of rape, unless maybe RFKjr somehow wins the nomination.

That's an incomplete statement. The classified documents were semi-randomly mixed in with over 11,000 non-classified documents.

Hence all of the boxes.

Because of the timing this is just a slap in the face of half of the citizens. This will set precedent for the future and the right will eventually return the favor. Does this mean the citizens vote regardless of the party they support will not be as significant from here on out? How do you think this will play out?

I personally think Trump is being tried by the media, which has been the dems goal in the past and will have to bear the brunt of the negative effects. Then the actual trial will go on long after the election and he will be found innocent, or it will be slap on the hand for making a mistake. There is no way he is going to prison. I highly doubt biden will be re-elected which means we will have a Republican President which will either be Trump or another candidate that will pardon him. The only way the dems win the election is with another candidate. Its a long shot for newsom, but maybe that's the plan somehow. Getting in late however that happens saves him from a lot of scrutiny.

That's an interesting question.

The prevailing opinion around here seems to continue to be that Trump was the legitimate winner of the 2020 election, but was the victim of massive and coordinated fraud to swing the result in Biden's favor.

If you accept that, then no citizen's vote has any value in any future election, and the country is already lost.

Which raises the question of "why all the theatrics?" Whoever the democrats put on the 2024 general ticket will "win" regardless of how we vote.

I'm not quite nihilistic enough to believe that, but it's the logical conclusion which the "Trump was definitely defeated only by fraud" path leads to.

It might be more of a factor in a close race. It is very sad that this is what our democracy has turned into. It should be solely the will of the people.

As much as it pains me to say this, I don't agree.

The people, by and large, are greedy, selfish, intolerant, and ignorant of basic economics.

I'm not saying that politicians are any better, of course.

If we were to go back to the days when voting was a privilege extended only to land-owners, or to those able to pass an exam similar to that required for foreigners to gain US citizenship, then I'd be more inclined to agree.

But since the people are able to vote (by way of representative democracy) to receive money from the government, or to deprive others of their liberties, merely saying "the will of the people" fixes nothing. That's how we got ourselves into the situation we're in now.

Remind me again which party calls requiring an I.D. to vote as racist? It's so funny/ironic that liberals never see this "self-own."

If you have the ability to think, all the proof you'll ever need of voter fraud flows from this argument.

And why was it a privilege only extended to landowners? Because that was the only constitutional way to levy taxes at the time, and in a largely pre-industrial society land was how goods & commerce were generated.

Ideally we go back to this model where one needs skin in the game to earn the privilege to vote. All you would need to do is be a taxpaying household. If you are a net taker or pay no tax, sorry no voting privilege. And yes this should extend to SSN, to the degree that SSN is now corrupted and has lots of people that never worked a day in their life sucking the systems teet. If it was just retirees that put into the system 40 years those people should continue to get their privilege to vote.

This modification to our system would go a long way to both verify voter eligibility and eliminate the possibility of the takers voting to steal more from the makers, outnumbering them, and sending the system into collapse as we are seeing slowly play out now.

when you can harvest votes and mail-in unverified ballots -- that ultimately gets switched to whatever candidate the "adjudicator" wants in huge chucks of 300,000 ballots within a 3 seconds -- who votes and how hard doesn't really matter anymore.

sure, voting is broken in many places. Fixing what we have now would be a step but is not a long term solution to arrest the decline of the country.

By "fix," do you mean limiting voting rights to individuals or households who are net-payers of tax, rather than net-recipients of public money?

You'd need a dictator to make that happen. Too many politicians in congrefs right now who got there by promising free money to everyone, and / or were bought by left-leaning tech corporations who consider it their public moral obligation to ensure that the middle-class are robbed from to pay the poor and the rich.
