And, to add complexity, you have things like Prop 13 in CA, the 421a exemption in NYC, and so on.

Property tax on residential housing is broken at nearly every level.

I love paying taxes on my MB every year at a rate 5x the cost of our prelude.

$~350 vs. $70.

I feel that tax is specifically targeting and prejudice to assholes and douchebags like myself.

Braineack 12-15-2017 03:44 PM

our toll hit $44 today to drive (10) miles:

There were other factors, but I actually had to change jobs because of this new toll.

So forgive me if I said it earlier when talking about Net Neutrality, I've gotten drunk and slept since, well yesterday.

Why have the telecom's spent the GDP of small island nations to repeal it?

Mobile app doesn't display info like that. I'm at a computer now so I do see it.

I don't know if that property tax map takes into account all of the ancillary assessments like schools, etc. I am certain the school assessment in Georgia at the lake house was a much higher percentage than here.

I found something:

Butts County's unincorporated county millage rate, set by the county commissioners, is 15.442 mills
^That was in Georgia for just the county operating portion of the tax. The county only millage rate here is only 5.7309 in Hillsborough County, Florida. I didn't find the school info yet.

What's the toll if you don't use the Express lanes?

Hmm, to my eye it looks like you could have coordinated a ride-share (2+) and gotten into the lane for free, no? Do they not have casual carpool stops there? :dunno:

It doesn't really say... Using millage alone though also doesn't give a real picture of the effective tax rate. For instance, in the town I live in the "assessed value" is currently 35% while on a house in NH the assessed value is currently 97%. Other factors also contribute to the lack of clarity.

Interesting law I just found regarding property tax. My home was a total loss fire (just smoke damage) so when I purchased it, the property tax estimate was done based on the $40k sale price previously.

More than double that amount was put in to the renovation and I purchased it for around 4x that. I was told at the time, my property tax was going to take a massive jump next year when they reassessed.

However, I just saw in 2013 a law was passed in Oklahoma that prevents property tax from rising more than 3% per year. I hope there isn't some weird exception for me.

Excellent point on assessed value. Our assessed value here is much lower than the market and additionally there is a homestead exemption on top of that that further reduces the taxable value.

Come on "taxation is theft bros" why are the telecoms in favor of ditching Net Neutrality if we have nothing to worry about. Literally dozens of millions of dollars in lobbying.

Explain.

^^ “The Democratic Party has implemented a zero tolerance standard," Ramsey said in the statement. "For me, that means a vindictive, terminated employee's false allegations are enough for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) to decide not to support our promising campaign. We are in a national moment where rough justice stands in place of careful analysis, nuance and due process."

News Flash - The the democratic party is just jockeying to be the party of virtue (wrt sexual harassment) by the next election cycle, and as such will expect every affected member to take one for the team. Republicans will be cast as the party of sexual deviants and perverts. That is all. :jerkit:
