Not some pissy little thing like who to appoint to the Supreme Court or what the Mueller report says.

I don't want anybody to suffer or die but we need something like 911 to bring us together as a country.
Wasn't 9/11 pretty much the root cause of a lot of the division and conflict within the US right now?

Before that, we didn't* have people accusing other people of being ***** (unless they were, in fact, literally *****), we didn't need safe spaces, we didn't have Islamophobia, we didn't have minority groups demanding that they be segregated, we didn't have popular support for the redaction of the First Amendment, etc. Back then, people cared more about the activities surrounding the president's dick than whether it's cultural appropriation to braid your hair in a certain way.

9/11 was the catalyst for a lot of the fear and hate that has driven people on both ends of the political spectrum further towards the extreme, and created schisms between rival political factions that have turned the Federal government into a case of "We have to make sure the other guy loses, no matter what the cost to the nation."

Another 9/11 isn't going to make anything better. It'd probably make things worse.

Another WWII might unite the country, but there's a risk that moonbat libtards might also say "Look at how well the Soviet Union is doing! We should implement Marxist-style Communism, too!" or "What right do we have to impose freedom from tyranny on Europe and Asia? That's awfully patriarchal!"

Or, after we're done liberating Europe and shift focus to a tiny island chain in the Pacific, it might just turn into another Vietnam, much like the Iraq / Afghanistan situation did. Which, again was directly caused by 9/11.

I fear that the US no longer has the resolve to win a major war. The kind in which cities are being firebombed and casualties number in the millions. Can you imagine Truman giving the order to drop The Bomb if he'd been faced with the internal politics / media of today?

* = I'm not saying that there was 0% of these things on Sep 10, 2001, but there was much less of them than there is now, and back then they were socially stigmatized, whereas now they're considered to be virtues.

The last thing we need is a crisis. Every time there is a crisis the government seizes more power. That is actually in that liberal playbook by what's his face I can't remember.

What we need is for the San Andreas Fault to cut loose with an 18.5 quake and drop the first 20 miles of California coastline into the Pacific. Yes, my parents and some good friends are in there, but I told them to move a decade ago.

The mainstream media just won't let it go. They continue to foolishly insist upon waiting until facts are available, rather than jumping to conclusions based upon speculation and hearsay.

Stockholm Syndrome, anyone?

Joe, perhaps you’re so busy actually performing your job that you’re unable to watch other Network TV. Even PBS’s “Judy’s NewsHour” has lost all pretense of being objective. I also assume that you don’t have a digital subscription to NYT - Jim Rutenberg basically announced their joining the opposition for the record.

I don't even watch my own TV station if I can avoid it.

Case in point: Today we had a breaking news cut-in at around 3:50p (10 minutes before the regular start of the afternoon news) that some teenager in Kentucky had been found to have falsely claimed that he was the same person who had gone missing as a child 11 years ago in Chicago. I was in the ops manager's office at the time (discussing totally unrelated matters), and she paused the conversation to turn up the volume on the 9.1 TV on her wall. My reaction can be summarized as follows: "How does this in any way affect my life?"

If the US declares war on another country, I will pay attention. If another country invades the US, I will pay attention. If the constitution (or any part of it) is nullified as a result of legislative action or court ruling, I will pay attention.

Anything which falls short of this (celebrity foibles, yet another police shooting, the President tweets something stupid, AOC tweets something stupid etc.) fails to meet the threshold for things that I deem worthy of my attention. I have way too much important **** going on to be distracted by News of the Weird.

Which, I will admit, occasionally makes things awkward at the weekly department-heads meeting when I have utterly no clue what the newsies are ranting about. I don't care. My job is to make sure that the signals go out properly with picture, sound, sync and captions, that the EAS and CALM systems are working properly, that the audio channels are mapped to the correct inputs at the Dolby encoders, that the building environmental systems are functioning, that the transmitters aren't doing anything which is hilariously dangerous and/or illegal (we've been doing well on this one lately), and that all of our affiliates' satellite receivers are properly authorized and functioning.

Whatever content they choose to pack into the bitstream that I provide is none of my concern.

It IS nice that someone is paying attention to the important things.

It sounds like something “woke” baristas in Brooklyn would be excited about. Banning ICE. Ignoring federal immigration law. Giving amnesty to millions. Decriminalizing illegal border crossings, which is to say totally open borders. Anyone can come. When they get here, give them free stuff.

Nobody really wants any of this; even most of the people saying it know it wouldn’t work. The public would revolt if you tried it. If half of Guatemala moved here tomorrow, which is exactly what would happen, it wouldn’t help anyone. This is all fantasy. Countries have borders. That’s what makes them countries.

Someday, the AOC moment will pass. It’s too stupid to continue.

I've posted a research study before, about how liberals talk down to minorites (since liberals are inherently racist), AOC didnt disappoint:

https://www.facebook.com/UnbiasedAmerica/videos/2246468405619719/

https://www.miamiherald.com/news/nat...222424675.html

White liberals tend to present themselves as less competent when speaking to minorities — while conservatives do not, according to a new study from Yale University scheduled to be published in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology.

“Most Whites, particularly socio-political liberals, now endorse racial equality. Archival and experimental research reveals a subtle but reliable ironic consequence: White liberals self-present less competence to minorities than to other Whites — that is, they patronize minorities stereotyped as lower status and less competent,” says the study, written by Yale professor Cydney Dupree.

Dupree analyzed the speech patterns of liberal and conservative presidential campaign speeches to pinpoint how often they used words that signified “warmth” and “competence.”

Words that emphasized warmth were things like “supportive” or “compassionate,” while words that emphasized competence were things like “assertive” or “competitive.” Dupree found that Democratic candidates used fewer “competence” words when speaking to primarily minority audiences, and they have been doing so for many years.

“And I assume that the Sierra Club would issue a public retraction if confronted with the facts? That the data are precisely as I described. That over the last 18 years there has been no significant warming. And indeed that is why global alarmists invented the term ‘the pause’ to explain what they call the pause in global warming because the data demonstrate what you just said that the Earth is cooking and warming is not backed up by the data.”

“You know, Mr. Mair, I find it striking that for a policy organization that purports to focus exclusively on environmental issues, that you are not willing to tell this committee that you would issue a retraction if your testimony is objectively false under scientific data. That undermines the credibility of any organization.”

Liberal Teachers: Our job sucks, we get 3 months paid vacation, and need more tax dollars to live by (but not the middle class tax dollar, the fat cats who need to pay their fair share).
Also Liberal Teachers:

Yesterday at a hearing for a bill (HB 5817) that would make sex between school employees and students a crime—even after they’ve turned 16, the legal age of consent in Rhode Island—both teachers’ unions made their objections known.

The police reasoning (over the phone) for taking my airguns is that I'm a "right wing white supremacist"

When asked further, they said it's because I've been on the record supporting US President Donald Trump.

You can't freely support the US President in New Zealand without facing persecution.
