Also in NH where the governor is a Republican. But I know you were being sarcastic... or were you?

Yes, I was basically poking fun at both sides.

I think we should take money at gunpoint from people who earn it and give it to people who never give anything to others. Problem solved.

Sorry I think that's already a thing but I'm too lazy to hunt for a meme.

Of course. I think this is more geared toward those in the service industry or small, "nonessential" businesses.

My barber, restaurants and bars, valets for nicer restaurants, gyms, local shops like hardware stores...........there are going to be a lot of these businesses that go bankrupt and may not come back.

And yes, I know businesses should be prepared for such things, but I don't think there are many businesses that aren't HUGE that could handle the possibility of 80%+ loss of income for months.

Truthfully, I'm more worried about my barber shop than anything. It's three young guys with beards and tattoos who basically built the shop themselves, and you can tell that they're not swimming in cash.

Same here. The guy who cuts mine is one of the three original guys. They started with two rooms across the hall in an OLD apartment building. It's in a hip, trendy neighborhood. So the whole building is massage, tattoo, barbers and stylists, a couple of small artist spaces. I used to married to a hairstylist, she made great money, but spent everything she made because of the "I'll just make more next week, I have the clients."

EDIT: This cool old building.

Mine’s been closed now for a week. Likely won’t be back for a month or more.

Ah nice deflection there with the Green deal.

This bill is the updated bill.. issues with the bill and why democrats blocked it..
It's a 2 trillion dollar stimulus package.. 2 trillion. The total amount of money going towards middle and low class house holds is less than 250 billion. Under the first bill put forward there were no regulations placed on companies that received the money. Also there's a loop hole for big companies 500 and over employees that allows those companies not to cover their employees that were laid off. Notice this is not allowed for the smaller companies. Next issue, the citizens are supposed to have half a year buffer in case they lose their income right and the "bailout" for those families is 1k. Other hand we are supposed to bail out these corporate giants like United and American Airlines? There was an investigation performed on them.. They didn't invest their profits into their companies or save them for a rainy day.. they used roughly 96% of them to buy back their own shares.. so a low income family is responsible for their own doom but these giant corporations deserve a bailout with no regulations or questions asked? The entire bill leaves a signed unmarked check for them.

^^ And steve minutia oversees exactly who gets that money. Also, (I think the version in question) of the bill also included removing the cruise ship tax.......for companies who refuse to wave the US flag and reside in tax havens and pollute the hell out of the seas. Yeah, **** them. You don't get to profit off tax payers, pay no tax, destroy the environment, and then turn around and want a handout......

Yeah..........no

Oh the irony; Rand Paul blocks first bill as he wants to include a rider provision.....turns around and test's positive for Corvid 19.........only after being tested 24 hrs prior and taking his (supposedly) physician *** to the gym, shaking hands with people in the hallway, and overall rubbing elbows with all sorts of people.
You can't make this **** up

Deflection? Nancy ordered democrats to tank the bipartisan bill for that 1432pg roll of TP.

When you go through it, less than 2% of the entire thing went to your precious low and middle class familes, the rest was invested in the pork industry -- yet you continue badmouth the bipartisan 247pg Senate Bill that you clearly never read.

Maybe I'm wrong, I also skimmed both. Why don't you go through the Senate Bill yourself and highlight all the "loopholes" and "bailouts" and point them out for us with the page number to reference like I did above? Also, keep in mind I do not define a loan as a bailout, so please refrain from confusing any reference to loans as such.

For example, something like this:

In the Senate Bill, on page 88, it has the following loophole:

The Secretary may only enter into a loan or loan agreement under section 3102(a) with an eligible business after the eligible business enters into a legally binding agreement with the Secretary that, during the 2-year period beginning March 1, 2020, and ending March 1, 2022, no officer or employee of the eligible business whose total compensation exceeded $425,000 in calendar year 2019 (other than an employee whose compensation is determined through an existing collective bargaining agreement entered into prior to March 1, 2020

1. How exactly is that ironic?
2. He didn't block the first bill, it passed the Senate 90-8
3. He had no symptoms, but got tested due to recent travel and events out of worry for his damaged lung after a violent bigoted Democrat attacked him.4. Had he not proactively tested himself, and just followed guidelines for testing, he would still be walking the halls of the Senate today.
5. If this teaches us anything, it's that we are all already infected, we just don't know it yet.
6. Is there anything wrong with his statement and rider?
He argued mightily during a floor speech for senators to pay for the measure by cutting funding for wars or other "frivolous" programs."I ask my colleagues to stop wasting money in this time of crisis," he said. "Stop being a rubber stamp for wasteful spending — do your jobs and prioritize our precious resources. It is our job and our responsibility to conserve our resources."

Paul's amendment would have required a Social Security number for purposes of the child tax credit; to provide the president the authority to transfer funds as necessary; and terminate U.S. military operations and reconstruction activities in Afghanistan.

1) If you do not get why it's ironic, then the below will help to explain
2) Incorrect. With his last minute amendment, the Senate had to scramble to bring the vote to the floor. THEY DID NOT VOTE ON THE BILL
Senate leaders were scrambling Tuesday to pass coronavirus legislation as quickly as possible, but Sen. Rand Paul put a damper on those plans, two leadership sources told NBC News.

Senators were heading toward a vote on the package — which would include provisions for free coronavirus testing, secure paid emergency leave, enhance unemployment insurance, strengthen food security initiatives and increase federal Medicaid funding to states — but they had to slam on the brakes because of an amendment Paul proposed.

The sources said Paul is forcing a vote on his amendment, which would "require a social security number for purposes of the child tax credit, and to provide the President the authority to transfer funds as necessary, and to terminate United States military operations and reconstruction activities in Afghanistan."

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell agreed to take up the amendment Wednesday, delaying the vote on the larger bill, the sources said. The Paul amendment is not expected to pass. The Senate is also planning to vote on the House bill later Wednesday.

3) As a physician, HE SHOULD KNOW people are able to be asymptomatic BUT ABLE TO STILL TRANSMIT THE VIRUS! As a ******* physician, he should KNOW this. Shoot, as a person who reads the news, EVERYONE SHOULD KNOW THIS!!
4) I do not get this. Protocol is to be tested, considering his environment and exposure. What is your point?? He is a physician, he should know this....
5) Ok
6) I FULLY OPPOSED handing ANY FULL MILITARY POWER to the president. We do not live in Turkey.......or Russia. **** that. Not giving it to Obama, Bush, Clinton or ANYONE. Much less a president that dodged the draft for some bullshit burn spurs deal and hasn't served or worked a day in his life. NO! That is why we have coequal branches so a president can be checked prior to doing **** like....shifting money, etc NO thanks! At that point, then we can begin to dissolve the House/Senate. We do not live in Russia. **** that

PS What does ss tax for child credit have ANYTHING to do with Corvid 19?? It's paul's little pet project....Please explain.

define irony. Then show how it applies here.
i disagree that "holding up" or "delaying" = block. Define: blocked. Define: delayed.
meh
meh
ok
the president is already the head of the military. Pauls admendemnt was to give the president authority to move funds from the military to the relief.

Rand Paul was violently attacked by a bigotted democrat in 2017 which resulted in part of his lung needing to be removed.

https://www.cnn.com/2019/08/05/polit...ved/index.html

he paid out of pocket to get that surgery in CA. That has nothing to do with socialism. define: socialism. Show how it applies here.
