The Los Angeles Police Department’s Fleet of BMW i3s Is Up for Sale

Taxpayers paid $10,267,699 for the cute city cars, most of which racked up four digits or less in mileage.

Gonna be honest here, I was hoping to find a better deal. The i3 is one model I've been thinking about as a good city car, but $15-$20k ain't exactly a reasonable price for a used police car. (I mean, what would Elwood think?)

So I award you no cats.

And may God have mercy on your soul.

Anyway, another example of headlines so absurd that I made sure to do some cursory fact-checking before posting here:

A defiant House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Wednesday claimed she was “set up” and a hair salon in San Francisco “owes” her an “apology” after it was revealed the California Democrat visited the business despite local ordinances keeping salons closed amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Yup.

Presupposing that Fox News can at least be trusted to get that straight (not a given, but a reasonable gamble), this seems to be the case. Nancy Pelosi is claiming to be a victim, because she made an appointment to get a hairdo during a time when such egregious acts of commerce are forbidden.

This is the kind of shit that you couldn't have convinced a mentally handicapped six year old was true not so very long ago.

But you can convince someone from Baltimore, LA, Portland, Minneapolis, New York, etc...

Ah, you're one of those people who believe that Portland exists.

Ok, no sense in arguing with that, I suppose.

Moving on, in "Did he really say that?"

"He better have an army if he thinks he’s going to walk down the streets in New York."

That would be NY State governor Andrew Cuomo, referring to President Trump.

Two things about this are funny.

One is that when Cuomo says "New York," he probably assumes that most people are going to automatically think of New York City (and, specifically, Manhattan), despite the fact that Albany (the capital of New York, and seat of the governorship) is not in New York City.

The other, of course, is that President Trump is, by nature of is office, also the Commander in Chief of the United States Armed Forces. So, yes, he does kind of have the largest regular army in the world. I would like to believe that governor Cuomo was not specifically inviting the United States Army to invade Albany, largely because that would violate a large number of Federal laws and international treaties, but more specifically because, with a land area of only 21.4 square miles, the occupation of Albany by the US Army (995,483 total uniformed personnel) would, when added to Albany's existing population of 96,460 people, place tremendous strain on the resources of Albany's rather dilapidated public transit infrastructure.

Theodore Roosevelt's grandfather, Cornelius, made the family fortune importing European window glass to New York. So I think he beat you to it.

And, when the New York Chemical Manufacturing Company's original charter expired in 1844, the company was liquidated and reincorporated as a bank, becoming the Chemical Bank of New York.

So, for all the folks here from North Carolina who have never been to NYC, but maybe heard that name (Chemical Bank) being spoken during an episode of Seinfeld, and thought "What a bullshit name for a fake bank!", well, that bank is in fact more real than the fictitious military honors claimed by Spanish explorer Juan Pardo, who founded Fort San Juan, the first European settlement in what is now Burke County NC, which lasted for a whole six months before natives from Joara and the region surrounding the fort burned it to the ground and killed all but one of its inhabitants, after which Pardo fled back to Spain to die a forgotten pauper.

I fail to see why "Commander Red" cannot arm himself with a flame thrower or fireworks? Up until use against someone as initial acts of aggression those should fall under his right to bear arms.
