I watched about half of the women's world cup and I actually thought it was interesting for two reasons. The first thing I noticed is that the women don't seem to act like little bitches every time someone touches them and throw themselves on the field. That was a nice surprise.
The second reason I enjoyed it is the same reason I enjoy watching amateur or collegiate level sports more than professional level sports. The players are less skilled and physically gifted so they make more mistakes which leads to more interesting play. For instance, the Netherlands team had an absolutely terrible defense which gave the US women's team so many chances to make shots on goal. Of course, the forwards don't have cannons for legs like the guys do so the goalie was able to go full Tim Howard and block an absurd number of shots and break aways that she had no business blocking.

The only thing that bothered me was their lack of discipline. They did not act very classy like other teams representing the USA.
I think this is the major issue most people seem to have right now.
These girls are representing themselves more than the country and that is one problem.

Soon, there will be no more manholes in the city of Berkeley, California. There will also be no chairmen, no manpower, no policemen or policewomen.
No, that doesn’t mean a whole city will be without committee leaders and law enforcement. It means that words that imply a gender preference will be removed from the city’s codes and replaced with gender-neutral terms, according a recently adopted ordinance.
The city voted Tuesday night to replace gendered terms in its municipal codes, like “manhole” and “manpower,” with gender-neutral ones like “maintenance hole” and “human effort.”
The item passed without discussion or comments and was not controversial, said Berkeley City Council member Rigel Robinson, the bill’s primary author.
“There’s power in language,” Robinson said. “This is a small move, but it matters.”
The revised city documents also will replace instances of gendered pronouns, such as “he” and “she” with “they,” according to the ordinance.
Berkeley’s municipal code currently contains mostly masculine pronouns, the office of the city manager said in a letter to the mayor and city council.
“Having a male-centric municipal code is inaccurate and not reflective of our reality,” Robinson said. “Women and non-binary individuals are just as entitled to accurate representation. Our laws are for everyone, and our municipal code should reflect that.”

Of course this comes on the heels of PG&E announcing their new fire safety program where they will be shutting off power preemptively during wind events (since they don't maintain their power lines for ****). They tried it out last fall in some locations and it took them days to get it restored again. I'm sure it'll be nice to know you're so green and "all-electric" when the power goes out.

Bunch of idiots. At least they don't have to worry about fires or earthquakes disrupting power, lol. INB4 news story where someone dies in wildfire because electric car runs out of electricity and all lines are down. Can't carry a bucket of electricity from 5 miles away to dump into it quickly.

Political Correctness started to infiltrate the electronics industry years ago.
The terms "master" and "slave" were used to describe attributes of technological devices. IDE hard drives, databases, network clock systems, media duplicators, etc. Nowadays, you don't have that anymore. We've shifted to terms like primary / secondary, host / guest, and so on.
Guess how that trend started.
Here's a CNN story from 2003:
LOS ANGELES, California (Reuters) -- Los Angeles officials have asked that manufacturers, suppliers and contractors stop using the terms "master" and "slave" on computer equipment, saying such terms are unacceptable and offensive.
The request -- which has some suppliers furious and others busy re-labeling components -- came after an unidentified worker spotted a videotape machine carrying devices labeled "master" and "slave" and filed a discrimination complaint with the county's Office of Affirmative Action Compliance.
In the computer industry, "master" and "slave" are used to refer to primary and secondary hard disk drives. The terms are also used in other industries.
"Based on the cultural diversity and sensitivity of Los Angeles County, this is not an acceptable identification label," Joe Sandoval, division manager of purchasing and contract services, said in a memo sent to County vendors.
"We would request that each manufacturer, supplier and contractor review, identify and remove/change any identification or labeling of equipment components that could be interpreted as discriminatory or offensive in nature," Sandoval said in the memo, which was distributed last week and made available to Reuters.
The memo did not include any suggestions for alternative labels.
I've omitted a bunch of stuff from the middle of the article which is kind of dull, but the last paragraph in it is interesting:

Heck, my own company is in the process of being sold right now, and I'm having a hard enough time dealing with requests to account for capital allocations from 5-10 years ago.

In June, the Los Angeles city council unanimously passed a law requiring that any companies doing business with the city disclose profits they may have made from slavery in the 19th Century. In 2000, the council supported federal legislation seeking reparations for descendants of slaves.
