Baltimore Cop Convicted of Shooting Himself To Collect Worker

A Baltimore police detective who claimed he was shot by another man and sought worker’s compensation has been convicted of perjury and fraud.

A Baltimore Circuit Court jury also convicted Anthony N. Fata Wednesday of misconduct in office. Sentencing is set for Oct. 21.

Fata, a 14-year veteran, said he was shot on Jan. 18, 2011 in a garage near police headquarters by another man and returned fire. He suffered a graze wound to his thigh.

Prosecutors say Fata shot himself to obtain worker’s compensation benefits.

Police Shoot Therapy Dog As They Raid Wrong Address Looking For Man With Expired Vehicle Registration | Police State USA

LEANDER, TX — Leander Police went to the home of James and Renata Simmons acting on a warrant for unpaid vehicle registration on June 17, 2013. The warrant, however, was for a completely different town – Cedar Park, TX, and was for a person named Bradly Neal Simpson, someone the Simmons family, who have lived at this address for the past nine years, have never even heard of.
I just let my registration lapse 3 months and just got a ticket for; I'm REALLY happy they didn't bust into my house and shoot my cats and seize my property and sell it as it was used in a crime.

Holy fucking shit.

Los Angeles PD Pinned my 60 year-old Dad to the ground after he tripped and fell getting out of his car.

My Dad is 60, has a bad back and bad shoulders. It's difficult for him to stand up quickly or sit down. He pulled into a PepBoys parking lot to return an item, and there happened to be a police car about 30 feet away with one officer talking to an homeless man and another officer near the squad car.

As my Dad gets out hand slips off the door and he stumbles forward and eventually trips and falls. As he's getting up, he hears a cop yelling at him to "Stay Down" and then he gets kicked in the back of the legs and pinned down on the ground. The other officer runs over and puts his knee on the back of my Dad's neck and pushes his face into the ground. They pinned my Dad to the ground for 20 minutes while they yelled at him about respecting the police. My dad says "I've done nothing wrong, why are you doing this?" and they push his arms further up his back and tell him they will be asking the questions. My Dad tried explaining he has a bad back and simply fell out of his car.

During that time they search his car for his ID (my dad left his wallet in the passenger seat), find it, but then decide to search his trunk. They go through all the compartments and his saxophone case. One officer explains to my Dad that my Dad made an aggressive move toward their car and that's why they had to pin him down. After 30 minutes they allow him to get up off the ground, and finally they drive off and toss my dad's wallet out of their car into his trunk as they leave.

Anybody know a good attorney in the Los Angeles area?

Cop Tases handcuffed girl in back, now braindead!

The Florida Highway Patrol have cleared 267-pound Trooper Daniel Cole of wrongdoing and have released a disturbing dash cam video that captured him tasing a 100 pound, 20 year old handcuffed girl in the back as she fled. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement determined Trooper Daniel Cole's "use of force" was justified when he tased the woman last September at the FHP Pinellas Park Substation and cleared him of wrongdoing. The fleeing woman, Danielle Maudsley, 20, suffered severe brain damage after hitting her head on the concrete and has been in a persistent vegetative state ever since.

The video shows Maudsley fleeing a back door of the substation with Cole following closely behind

Maudsley's mother said the trooper should have used other means to stop her daughter from fleeing. "He was right behind her. He could've reached out," Maudsley said. "It was unnecessary." The mother hired defense attorney Kevin Haylsett, who put FHP on notice for a lawsuit. Hayslett said Cole violated FHP's taser policy which states: "Fleeing cannot be the sole reason for the deployment." "When you shoot someone in the back, and they're running away, all that force -- as you saw when Danielle's head hit the concrete -- that's why they don't allow you to do that, because you can have horrible tragedies like this," Hayslett said.

Beware of Warrior Cops - Reason.com

We need police to catch murderers, thieves and con men, and so we give them special power -- the power to use force on others. Sadly, today’s police use that power to invade people’s homes over accusations of trivial, nonviolent offenses -- and often do it with tanks, battering rams and armor you’d expect on battlefields...

Man arrested during BMW test drive | www.wsbtv.com

ATLANTA — A man who went car shopping in Gwinnett County ended up in jail during a test drive.

Jon-Christopher Sowells had just driven a BMW out of Philips Motors on Highway 78 in Snellville when an officer stopped him.

Sowell told Channel 2’s Kerry Kavanaugh he pulled over, unclear about why the Snellville police officer stopped him.

"He said you don't have any tags on the car. I said, ‘No problem, I don't have any tags on this car because it's not my car. The dealer is right there we can get it all clarified,’” Sowells said.

...

“They asked me to get out of the car. I said 'I don't feel comfortable.' They commenced to open up the car door and they tried to drag me out of the door by my left arm," he said.

At that point, Sowells says, the officer had called for backup.

According to the police report, Sowells pulled away from the officers. Two officers grabbed their Tasers and Sowells got out of the car. He was arrested for obstruction.
im assuming charges were dropped; i mean that's the whole point of an obstruction charge. It's basically like flexing muscles.
