I posted the courtfeed of this once, but I thought it being covered by a newsfeed was interesting:

The Maricopa County detention officer tried to explain Friday why he and a fellow scumbag sheriffs office employee swiped a document from a defense attorneys file in a bizarre scene that was caught on courtroom videotape.

Detention officer Adam Stoddard sputtered nervously through his testimony at a hearing in Maricopa County Superior Court, where he was ordered to give reasons for taking the document. For every reason he gave, however, he retreated just as quickly, contradicting himself throughout the two-hour hearing.

The whole thing surrounded a scene that took place in a Maricopa County courtroom on Oct. 19, all caught on a courthouse security tape.At first, Stoddard testified that the document he yanked from the file — a handwritten letter — contained keywords that led him to believe Lozano was some sort of security risk. Later, however, the detention officer admitted the document had been reviewed by court or sheriffs officials beforehand and was quite literally given a stamp of approval.Stoddard also said he thought the document might have been somehow illegally passed between Lozano and his defense attorney. But later in the hearing, he admitted that there was really nothing unusual or illegal about a handwritten letter being passed between attorney and client.

I actually talked to a cop about this the other day. lmao
It makes no sense, and they cant really justify it. They write the tickets even if you OWN the property from the curb back.

no, they can justify it. they just don't want to tell you that it's about writing more tickets and getting more revenue from it.

it's win win. you park in driveway, they write a ticket so you are forced to park on street so they can then write you a ticket for something else.

Very true... Its a 60 year old law, that they are using to make money. In pittsburgh you CANT park a car 30 feet or more from the road. MOST houses are 10 feet from the road. And even if you own the property outright, they still write the tickets. Same with the sidewalks... its only YOUR property when its convenient for THEM, ie: someone tripping on a lifted sidewalk block, and cracking their head open.
OTHERWISE, it is THEIR property, along with all the land 5 feet on either side of the sidewalk. A girl i work with wanted to have a tree removed from her front yard, because it was basically dead, and limbs were falling off, and onto the house. They wouldnt let her without a permit, and permission from the township, because even though it was HER property, it is THEIR property, becauste the tree was within 5 feet of the sidewalk. 4 months, $300 later in permits, and 1 hour worth of chainsaw work that they paid another $150 for, and the tree was gone.
Scamtastic

Oh.... and i got a ticket for parking in front of my own house along the curb last year. I fought it, because there was NOTHING stating i couldnt park there. I didnt have to pay.... But, you cant drive through pittsburgh ANYWHERE without seeing cars parked along the road, its ridiculous..

Officer Tickets 215 Phantom Motorists For Seatbelt Violation

In June, the New Orleans Police Department received a federal grant that provides overtime pay to officers who help enforce seatbelt laws. Police salaries being what they are, the grant drew the attention of many officers, including one Glenn Gross.

Gross apparently issued the 215 tickets to "phantom motorists" in three months since the grant funds were awarded. Details of how he accomplished that feat haven't been released, but since he works in the department's information technology division -- or did, until he was arrested yesterday -- it sounds as if he could have created them from the relative comfort of his desk. Eventually, one of Gross' supervisors became suspicious and reported him to the Public Integrity Bureau, which conducted an investigation.

Police change defence after allegedly breaking student's leg over ticket

A group of police officers who allegedly broke the leg of an arts student and told her ''we don't care if it's legal'' have been allowed to change their defence at the eleventh hour after CCTV footage of the assault emerged.
Rachel Gardner is suing the NSW police force claiming she was kicked, sat on, handcuffed, pushed against a fence, loaded into a paddy wagon and then dumped at a nearby train station without charge after being caught without a train ticket on March 13, 2011.
Police initially denied the kick occurred but sought to amend their defence in the Sydney District Court on Monday, minutes before the beginning of a five-day trial, after Ms Gardner's legal team revealed they had obtained CCTV footage from Cronulla station.
On Tuesday, Judge Sharron Norton lambasted the force's barrister Matthew Hutchings for presenting an "entirely different" defence document on the morning of the trial but she allowed it and deferred the trial to November.

Houston Police Chief Charles McClelland will be taking a defensive driving course and has accepted a one-day suspension from Mayor Annise Parker, stemming from a traffic incident earlier this month.

Soon after he tweeted news of his punishment, a video of accident was also released to the media via email.

The accident happened about 8:15 a.m. on Sept. 4 at the intersection of Clay and Travis, about a block from police headquarters. McClelland hit a man he didn't see crossing the street as he was driving to police headquarters in a city vehicle.

"I am the boss; I should take a bigger discipline. This is why I am accepting my suspension," the official Houston police Twitter page quoted McClelland as saying.

$3.4M settlement in deadly 2011 SWAT raid near Tucson

The family of a man killed in a barrage of gunfire during a SWAT raid at a home southwest of Tucson has settled a lawsuit with four police agencies involved in the operation.

The $3.4 million settlement with the family of Jose Guerena will end a two-year legal battle between his wife, Vanessa, and Pima County.

The settlement includes Marana, Oro Valley and Sahuarita, which had officers on the SWAT team, officials confirmed on Thursday.

Guerena, 26, was shot and killed by SWAT team members on May 5, 2011, when they raided his house.

An American citizen was arrested by police for filming the military training for martial law & urban assaults in Charlotte, NC. He was released after the police had to admit that they could not charge someone with "trespassing" on publicly property. This area is open to the public & there was no legal way to deny a member of the public the right to use it. This is no different than trying to say that Black people cannot use a public park. Public property cannot be given to any privileged person or group, even for one day. Notice the subterfuge that was used with the term "city owned" as if that is something different than PUBLIC PROPERTY. People have won large settlements from municipalities because they told that they must leave public property. The most common cases have involved homeless people being thrown out of parks or libraries.

“You are not preparing them for Harvard,” he said.

The irate parent, who has a sixth-grader and a second-grader and in Howard County, Md. schools, asserted that the new curriculum will only prepare students for community college.

This fall, for the first time, 45 states and the District of Columbia have begun implementing Common Core State Standards Initiative, which attempts to standardize various K-12 curricula around the country.

Criticism of the Common Core has risen sharply. Opposition has brought together conservatives who stand athwart a federal takeover of public education and leftists who deplore ever-more standardized testing.

The plan for the question-and-answer forum was for attendees write their questions down on pieces of paper. Then, Dance and the Maryland State Superintendent of Schools, Lillian Lowery, would answer them.

After Small spoke for perhaps a few minutes, a security guard confronted him. A police report alleges that Small tried to push the guard away when the guard initially confronted him.

The video does not appear to show Small pushing the guard.

“Let’s go. Let’s go,” the security guard said.

“Let him ask his question,” someone yelled.

To audible gasps, the guard then pulled the 46-year-old father aggressively in the direction of the aisle.

As the guarded escorted Small out of the forum, Small said “Don’t stand for this. You are sitting here like cattle.” Then he asked, “Is this America?”
