Or they could have left him alone. It's not obstruction unless he is obstructing the firemen or the police in their duties.

Pretty typical for officers in today's world

I particularly liked the part about "what happens to people who don't listen to the police"
I think if you train someone that their only tools are various sizes of hammers-pepper spray, Taser, gun, pretty much the whole world starts to look like nails.

They told him to stop he didnt listen. Sure the cops were in the wrong, but if your gonna disobey police, you should be ready for the consequences, because they dont always obey the law, and sometimes over react.
I understand why they did it, even if it was excessive. My friend is a firefighter, and fires can get out of control fast, explosions, or back drafts or whatever they call all that stuff.
**** like this happens when fires arent put out correctly.

While (thankfully) these incidents are still few and far between, the reason for its existence is the human tendency to blindly follow authority. The way to break it is for more individuals to recognize the difference between just and unjust authority.

The guy wasn't breaking the law, so he didn't have to listen to the officers. This is on par with them tasing you after they told you to flip your burgers because they were burning. He was trying to help his neighbor and protect his own house from catching fire as well. It is excessive and there is no reason for them to tase him as they did. He was not getting in the way and was not obstructing. Sure he may have been putting himself in some danger, but he was doing his part to help the situation. Exactly opposite of what the cops seem to have been doing.
