"Imhof said the officers had other options. They could have yanked Jensen away, she said, or just turned off the water."

Or they could have left him alone. It's not obstruction unless he is obstructing the firemen or the police in their duties.

How about obstruction of an oath to protect and serve by attacking a dude trying to help his neighbor??

Perhaps the police knew the homeowner and wanted to watch the house burn?

I get excessive force, but why isn't the attorney going after the police man's indiscretion by issuing a pointless order?

Pretty typical for officers in today's world
Here's another egregious example
Police use Taser on 10-year-old at school career day, lawsuit alleges | The Lookout - Yahoo! News
I particularly liked the part about "what happens to people who don't listen to the police"
I think if you train someone that their only tools are various sizes of hammers-pepper spray, Taser, gun, pretty much the whole world starts to look like nails.

What is that saying... "Don't point at anything you don't intend to shoot."

They told him to stop he didnt listen. Sure the cops were in the wrong, but if your gonna disobey police, you should be ready for the consequences, because they dont always obey the law, and sometimes over react.

I understand why they did it, even if it was excessive. My friend is a firefighter, and fires can get out of control fast, explosions, or back drafts or whatever they call all that stuff.

**** like this happens when fires arent put out correctly.

I understand it was a damn tanker, and you dont think a house will explode like that, but when fighting a fire, there is way more involved than spraying it with water, and the neighbor could have been doing more harm than good and as the police say, putting both him and them in danger.

Yes I think they were excessive but the guy should have just listened.

While (thankfully) these incidents are still few and far between, the reason for its existence is the human tendency to blindly follow authority. The way to break it is for more individuals to recognize the difference between just and unjust authority.

I don't have to obey the police if I'm not breaking the law.

So bucket brigades would be illegal nowadays as long as a single law enforcement officer shows up, not knowing ****, and says "stop"?

Well **** common sense and lending a hand then.

Oh, you and your idiotic posts again. Hi, there.

The guy wasn't breaking the law, so he didn't have to listen to the officers. This is on par with them tasing you after they told you to flip your burgers because they were burning. He was trying to help his neighbor and protect his own house from catching fire as well. It is excessive and there is no reason for them to tase him as they did. He was not getting in the way and was not obstructing. Sure he may have been putting himself in some danger, but he was doing his part to help the situation. Exactly opposite of what the cops seem to have been doing.
