Default Massive ethanol shortage in Florida

It’s a sad, sad time. For about 2-3 weeks in SWFL the main stations I go to for ethanol have been out, and they’ve said they won’t be getting more any time soon. Some very limited conversation with a couple people scattered across the state say their gas stations have been out of e85 for more than a month in some places. I found one hole-in-the-wall 76 that was selling e85 for 3.99/gal, so I started going there everyday and putting $10 in each day to keep my tank on FULL. DeSantis cut the gas tax or something which dropped gas prices by 70 cents overnight and it was down to 3.29….. UNTIL TODAY. The last hope for my area for affordable race fuel had bags over the e85 handles today. Super depressing, just because of the overall situation AND because I’ve really come to love and rely on ethanol in my 400hp daily driven Miata. That stuff totally changed the car when I started using it and the gas mileage was not even noticeably worse than 93. But it looks like those days are over, at least for a while. I might resort to methanol injection if it’s not TOO costly. I’m not trying to spend an additional $40-60 a week,
especially since 93 costs much more than e85. This ******* sucks. FJB 🖕🏼

Do you have buddies using E85?
In Germany we can't get it since like 2014, only in 1000l barrels. But I mean, if 10 guys take like 100l, why not?

In an unusual turn of events, that 76 that was out the other night got another shipment. Idk if they have a different trucking company bringing theirs in or if they have some being made locally or maybe they’re lying about something, but people all over Florida even YouTubers are saying there’s no e85 at the pumps. 3 out of the 4 stations close to me are out and I call every week and they tell me they’re not getting any more.

I have looked into getting some Ignite or some other ethanol fuel but it’s like $12/gal. I’d do that if I was loaded and if I rarely drive the car, but I use 3 gallons of gas everyday. Idk mayne ***** deal we got going on down here rn. I’m honestly blessed to still have a gas station that has some

We are kind of short here. I'd say that 30-40% of stations don't have it, but 25% of THOSE stations usually don't have it during winter. And 95% of the stations have raised their price to 87 octane levels.

Part of me thinks it may be partly due to the crop / economy / everything shortage this year.

Oddly enough you can find turbo blue and other 110-120 octane crap around here like crazy. Even in winter... Metro Detroit is odd.

And here I was hoping we would quit subsidizing ethanol and bring back real 93 octane 100% gas.

Went autoxing in my car this weekend for the first time in two years and was able to find e85 relatively easy in my area. Let's call it North Dade/South Broward (around where the Dolphins play). About $2.80/gal and was a little over 75% alcohol.

Has it improved for you guys in SWFL?
