I agree, it's a pretty obvious conclusion.

When I joined the Army, the kids that joined and couldn't take it just went AWOL and offed themselves. He should learn from the example.

But then he wouldn't get the social networking buddies and the book deal! Not to mention the reality show.

I can't help but wonder if he joined up with the intention of doing this from day one.

This.

I really didn't think we were at war with a religion until I looked up recently and noticed half the news stories were either about our involvement with Muslim countries, our lack of tolerance for Muslims, or something else bad we're doing to Muslims.

Don't get me wrong, I know most Muslims are probably great people that want nothing more than the rest of us...a good life and going home to family. But why do we have to make special accommodations based on faith that we don't make in other cases?

Or better yet, why is their religion even the case?

Have we not ever fought against Christian soldiers? How many WWII vets used that as a cop out? Have zoning restrictions or public pressure never been used to ask a business or committee to reconsider their location?

Race card...meet religion card.

Hopefully more Muslims protest American ideas, it will help their revolution/inquisition.

Just kick him out, dishonorable discharge. He knew what he was getting into when he signed up.

If we try him for desertion it would only cause like-minded people to rally for his "cause".

Why do people think kicking him out to be the answer?

Deploy him. His status as a conscientious observer is crap, and that's what the current investagation is about. If found that is was all just something he made up to get out of going to war, they'll send him just like they send the pregnant girls after they pop out the babies and hand them off to daddy or to their parents.

Watch, they'll deny his claim of being a conscientious observer and will be in the 'stan in the next two months.

Granted, I've never served in the armed forces so I'm certainly not qualified to really comment here, but I don't think I'd want him to have my back in a tight spot.

Ding Ding ding! We have a winner. If you're not a team player, no one is going to want you there anyways. And you certainly wouldn't want to be put in a situation where you'd have to rely on him. I've yet to be deployed, but just from a perspective of being part of the unit, guys like that have only one path to take - discharge.

If he makes it over there, he WILL be a team player, people don't mess around once they're in a situation where their lives are in danger, friendly fire is a bitch. Sucks to say, but I know it happens more than people would like to think.

+1. I wouldn't want that guy around me, angry, and with a loaded carbine/access to hand grenades.

I'm going to have to disagree with you, KPLAFIN. There have been instances already of soldiers either losing it or just not liking someone and killing them downrange. Hell, I'm an MI weenie and I have access to all kinds of munition. I can only imagine what temptations a disgruntled grunt would have.

You're not disagreeing with me, that's exactly what I was saying, guess I didn't say it very clearly though after I re-read it. He's ither going to be a team player or he's going to be dead is basically what I was trying to get across.

Hmm.. the last time I remember hearing about a muslim serving with the 101st, the **** lobbed a grenade into a tent of sleeping soldiers, killing at least one... that was in Kuwait right before desert storm part deux.
And then the other **** who went on a shooting rampage in TX - Ft. Hood?

Simple answer - hang the bastard or let him be a bitch to the guys in Leavenworth.

Political correctness in the military, or whatever the hell you want to call it - gets our guys killed. Call it like it is.
