I know 2 guys in particular that may close up shop after this year is up. Not because they want to, or because the works not out there, but more so because they can. They have enough money to live their lives without the headaches and without giving their earnings to the government, only in turn to watch them give it to all the losers that don't earn it.

Personally, I'm going to make money regardless. Everyone said construction was dead and the worst field to be in. I found that with a little tweaking of our business we've been able to get new customers, with good jobs and keep afloat while in a "bad" economy.

**** the losers that want nothing out of life and need that government tit. Let them fail so hard that they HAVE to figure it out. Stop taking from the working guys and giving it to the scumbags!
I'm a small business owner too.

Please specifically detail the exact policies, laws, and regulations that make it hard for small businesses to succeed.

Yah. Please tell. Most small businesses fail on the lack of merit of the business owner. Or lots of stuff that has absolutely nothing to do with national politics.

Republicans will never win again anytime soon. Swallow that.

I'm talking Joe Biden is more likely to win in 2016.

Republicans need around 75% of the white vote to win.

You can get a higher paying job and even though you may pay slightly more taxes you will still have more money in the end to afford more expensive ****.

You do realize we pay the least amount of taxes in this country than any other and basically have everything handed to us on a silver platter compared to other places?

Has anyone here lived abroad? I have. Do you travel abroad regularly? I do. IMHO this is the greatest country in the world. Every time I get back I thank god my parents brought me here and not somewhere else. We really have it ******* good here and I am willing to pay more taxes for that to continue. Not to say I want too, but if that's what it comes to, then i'm in.

FYI. Romney didnt win for one reason and one reason only. Wall street got us into this ******* mess, do you really think Americans want Mr Wall Street in the white house?
Yes
Yes
Only traveled for a few weeks at a time, neved lived in another country. I don't think I conveyed my point well enough in my post. I need inflation and devaluation to keep my dollar strong so it can buy me these things.
I think America is too stupid to have a clue over who did what.

Amen. Any American that hasn't been abroad has no clue how incredibly well off they have it here. I'm sure you've seen much crazier things than I have. In my limited experience overseas, I realized that it's normal to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables from a neighbor or shack rather than 'organic' packaged in plastic a grocery store...otherwise you do not eat...ok to travel and eat with a loaded shotgun or assault rifle...and perfectly well acceptable to pick up a 40 from the gas station, open and drink it, then drive down the highway with 8 buddies in the bed of your pickup while drinking your second 40.

(Disclaimer: I also here stories of similar occurrences in Texas.)

Obama or Romney, we're still better off than insert dictator name here.

The irrational fear that the black man in office is somehow sabotaging his profitability while reality is probably is the opposite is true makes it hard for him to function as a person well enough to operate a business maybe.

Fail------, I don't really have time to sit here and explain everything to you.

We are a corporation with LOTS of machinery and equipment. A capital gains tax increase is all we need.

Sure we're still in business, but the government hasn't helped us one bit. We've just had to work harder to keep up with all the ******* rules and regulations is all.

Meanwhile, town/state employees suck up overtime week after week, when working 5 of those guys is = to our 1.

Construction is a little different these days and it wasn't like this 5 years ago.

I saw those statistics too. Its sad really, that you can almost automatically count certain "votes" for Obama just by race.

I don't care if the guy running was green. If he was worth voting for then I'd vote for him.

lol if this is true. Republicans need to learn from this, I doubt they can and that's why they'll probably run Jeb. Why can't they give us someone who's not a political machine, with a heart?

They only way republicans can win is if they run a West/Rubio ticket and say the phrase "for the common good," a whole bunch of times.

Republicans only got 27% of the hispanic vote this time versus 40% in 2004 based almost solely on their terrible immigration policies. I for one find it ironic that the republicans only talk about wanting to keep the highly educated immigrants (mostly asian and indian) when this country was built on the backs of mostly underprivilaged ones (Irish, Italians, etc).

Wall street alone did not get us into this mess either. Wall Street behaves the way it does based on the environment it is given. If you force someone to make loans based on discrimination to those who shouldn't qualify and then bail them out when they take huge risks to try to make money off of the **** you gave them what do you expect? Do you think these bankers didn't know they were too big to fail and uncle sam would give them the same welfare that he gives all the underprivilaged that drive cars with $2000 rims?

Although Wall Streets greed definitely played a significant role don't for a minute think government policy wasn't just as big of a problem.

I have.

Your 1st part is not entirely accurate: while there are many that tax more, there are also many that tax way less, or not tax at all.

Silver platter? Sure, if you're a scumbag loser collecting welfare/assistance/unemployment. If you're a hard working honest person you get taxed out the *** and called a whiner any time you complain about being taxed out the ***.

I don't think anyone's complaining about how "BAD" it is here. I think everyone is complaining about how THIS COUNTRY IS BEING RUN INTO THE GROUND. I love living here too, and it pains me to see this. The losers get EVERYTHING on a silver platter, and the rich/ballers get ALL the tax breaks and incentives. The hard working middle class gets it in the pooper without lube.

Just my politically un-educated opinion. When I look at my pay checks and how much is deducted every pay period (I opt for maximum so that I never owe at the end of the year), as well as the almost 10% tax we pay on everything here, as well as all the fee's/bullshit we have to pay for our cars/houses/etc, it makes me sad.

Do you often sell the machinery and equipment for more than you paid for them?

Sadly, Jeb Bush would have been a great candidate if it wasn't for his brother. He is much more socially moderate, is married to a Latino woman, is a good speaker and focuses more on positive aspects (i.e. how to make things better, not just why the other guy sucks more).

I would think it would be a terrible mistake for him to run as a Presidential candidate due solely to the negatives of him being linked to GWB.

This is not really accurate. We pay less in taxes because we don't have everything handed to us. Many (most?) other developed Western nations have significantly higher taxes but also more generous social programs. See this trubo.net thread: US vs Nordic nations, taxes and stress.

I have said this before and I will say it again, virtually every "tax break" available to the rich is available to everyone. Many non-rich don't utilize those tax breaks because the standard benefit is better.

Example: you might not take the mortgage interest deduction because you don't spend more than ~$6k/year in mortgage interest. You might not itemize your charitable gifts because you "only" donate ~$100/year in clothes and furniture.

If anything, many more tax breaks (i.e. credits and deductions) phase out with income so that the highest earners are not able to utilize them. Trust tax rates are even more progressive than marginal income tax rates. That means they jump to 35% on very low annual taxable income (less than $12k/year).

You should drop this idea that rich benefit from special tax breaks that are not available to everyone else. Corporations, maybe, but not individual high income earners.
