Default Operation Fast and Furious - gun control

http://www.investors.com/NewsAndAnal...or-Cartels.htm

Quote:
Again, Fast and Furious was no botched sting operation. The ATF simply didn't "lose track" of thousands of weapons. We believe this was a planned and premeditated attempt to further the administration's gun-control agenda and its claim that violence in Mexico was our fault.

I'm seriously debating not paying a lick of tax ever again.

I'm tired of finding out where our "tax dollars" are really going.

Issa is a lowly Representative that the media can mostly ignore, though there have been a few articles on CNN covering the hearings. They'll have to pay it more than lip service though, when the Republican candidate brings it up while standing right next to Obama during nationally televised debates.

I sure hope this is why none of the GOP hopefuls are mentioning it so far.

The GOP only pretend to be against gun control.
In the same way they pretend to be for small gov't.
In the same way the Dems only pretend to be anti-war.

To pay 'tax' for that 3rd pin or not.... hmmm

This is beyond just 'serious' when an officer is killed by a rifle associated with F&F - it's absolutely criminal. Someone needs to hang at the ATF

it's been more than 1 officier iirc.

do they have the authority to tell private companies to break serious laws?

I love this:

The Deputy Attorney General’s exact words to Holder: “It’s not going to be a big surprise that a bunch of U.S. guns are being used in [Mexico], so I’m not sure how much grief we get for guns walking.”

Apparently Mr. Holder perjured himself already, since he claimed in his testimony that he'd only been made aware of the program a week or two prior, and now there's evidence that he read and responded to memos about the program months and months earlier.

I remember this from 6-months ago, but I still don't understand the administration's motivation for this.

LULZ.

Quote:
The Justice Department told CBS News that the officials in those emails were talking about a different case [THAT JUST HAPPENED TO BE EXACTLY LIKE F&F] started before Eric Holder became Attorney General. And tonight they tell CBS News, Holder misunderstood that question from the committee - he did know about Fast and Furious - just not the details.
So which is it, Mr. Holder? Are you an imbecile, or did you perjure yourself?

This reminds of a Beavis and Butthead episode:
Quote:

Liar! Liar! - Recap
<-- Previous EpisodeNext Episode -->
The Burger World manager is counting the cash in the till, and Beavis and Butt-head are saying random numbers to throw off his count. He figures out the cash register came up short.

In the next scene the boys are sitting in the office of "Big Eye Systems", an employee surveillance company that uses polygraph testing. Beavis keeps repeating that he didn't do it - it was a foreigner, and he tells Butt-head he's "practicing" to convince people he didn't do it. Butt-head tells him they're probably going to take a PoliGrip test. Butt-head says it's a lie detector test, and there are tricks to help you pass it. He tells Beavis he's heard you can hold your breath to fool the machine.

Butt-head gets called in first, and he's hooked up to the polygraph. The doctor gives him some instructions, and asks if he understands. Butt-head says "yes", but the polygraph beeps red, which means that he's lying. Then Butt-head says "no", and the polygraph blinks a happy green, indicating truth. Butt-head sucks in a large breath and holds it, and turns red in the face. The test administrator asks for his name. Butt-head answers. The lie detector blinks green. The man then asks Butt-head how many fingers he's holding up, to which Butt-head answers "four", and he's turning redder, and looks as if he's about to pass out. The man asks Butt-head if he's ever stolen anything, and Butt-head is now turning purple, then completely collapses from lack of oxygen.

Beavis is called in, and is hooked up to the machine. The doctor asks Beavis to say something, whatever comes to mind, just so he can get a base reading. Beavis starts babbling about how he killed a bunch of people one time, and the lie detector blinks green.

On the TV news, the announcer says police have finally captured the Inna Gadda da Vida serial killer from 25 years ago. They show a photo of Beavis, and say he's the "Hippie Ripper" who killed sixteen hippies in 1969. Butt-head laughs at the story, and doesn't seem to realize they think Beavis committed crimes that happened before the boys were even born.

I hate when I mistakenly perjure myself when discussing symmetrical ethical meltdowns.

Did this guy ever pay his tax debt?

Assuming you mean the Presidential Administration, I do not know how tightly they are involved with projects like this. (I honestly do not know one way or the other.)

As for the ATF administration's motivation, it seems like it was to help justify their existence. I could also see the DEA and drug prohibitionists as well as gun restrictionists getting a boost from the originally imagined outcome.

"US-made evil black rifles are arming the drug lords of Mexico! We need more funding to buy more US-made evil black rifles for our police and para-military assault groups!"

Listen guys, Holder thought the question was about the controversy regarding the program, not the program itself.

Chill out.

By their nature people in power want more. Gun control is more power.
Some people in power honestly believe Gun Control is a good thing, and will work towards that and believe the end justifies the means.

By their nature bureaucracies grow. Same effect.
