Not all the troops. We have enough guys to put 5K on the border wihtout much trouble. Besides which, it will make for pretty decent training for Afghanistan in light of the remoteness, high heat, etc. We already train a lot of guys out by 29 palms.

Its sad that these are the measures now neccesary, but the cops there have to do what they can. IF they did not do this, then they would be under major fire when some hikers get killed/captured/whatever because they stumbled onto the wrong campsite.

I dont agreee with the immigration law going into effect there, but I understand the motivation, which is also the motivation behind this. Incidentally, IIRC the guy who was just interveiwed was quoted as saying the new law is a pile of crap.

I think the real deal here is that AZ is going to do what it takes and basically force the feds through humiliation and political pressure to get their collective **** together. I hope it works fast.

 

A lot of other countries will brand people crossing the border illegally as a spy and will hang them or shoot them. I would be willing to bet they don't have to many people crossing the border illegally.

Try sneaking in to North Korea or China and see what happens. Of course not too many people want to anyway.
