Once upon a time, German Chancellor Angela Merkel attempted to force German trade unions to hire refugees as truck drivers.

According to an article in The Express from December 2016, this all took place in September – prior to the Berlin Christmas market terror attack that left 12 people dead.

Details of Merkel’s plan emerged amid the uproar caused by that incident, during which a Tunisian refugee plowed into a crowd using a truck.

The Express reports that Merkel “put massive pressure on unions to speed up the process in which unskilled refugees could be trained as lorry drivers.”

Merkel apparently suggested this as a solution to the “big shortage of lorry drivers in the country.”

She wanted to make it cheaper for refugees to apply to get a license.

Swedish police officers investigating last night’s terror attack were pelted with stones by a gang of youth in a ‘no-go zone,’ reports The Daily Mail.

The outlet states that the officers were likely seeking a 17-year-old and his mother at an address associated with the 39-year-old Uzbekistani migrant believed to have been driving the truck at the time of the attack.

The Daily Mail goes on to quote Abdallah Ahmed, a Swedish police officer and one of those allegedly attacked last night.

Google has discriminated against its female employees, according to the US Department of Labor (DoL), which said it had evidence of “systemic compensation disparities”.

As part of an ongoing DoL investigation, the government has collected information that suggests the internet search giant is violating federal employment laws with its salaries for women, agency officials said.

“We found systemic compensation disparities against women pretty much across the entire workforce,” Janette Wipper, a DoL regional director, testified in court in San Francisco on Friday.

Reached for comment Friday afternoon, Janet Herold, regional solicitor for the DoL, said: “The investigation is not complete, but at this point the department has received compelling evidence of very significant discrimination against women in the most common positions at Google headquarters.”

Herold added: “The government’s analysis at this point indicates that discrimination against women in Google is quite extreme, even in this industry.”

“Several protesters were middle-aged, and some were students at other colleges. The protesters chanted things like, ‘From Oakland to Greece, f*** the police’ and ‘From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free.’ I tried to talk to dozens of protesters about why they objected to Heather Mac Donald, but not a single one could point to an issue they had with her work,”

“Protesters tried to prevent me from conducting interviews by pushing me, grabbing me, and blocking my camera. Several protesters followed me around for almost an hour and formed a wall around me,” Glick said. “I was saddened to see that Claremont McKenna College was, yet again, so quick to give in to the protests and cancel the event. I hope that, someday, college students will have the opportunity to hear from a variety of different viewpoints on their campus.”

ollowing last week’s terror attack in Stockholm, Sweden’s Prime Minister says his country will “never go back” to mass immigration, reports The Express.

The outlet states that Prime Minister Löfven’s decision comes after news that the man behind last week’s attack was a “failed asylum seeker.”

According to The Sun, Sweden took in 244,000 asylum seekers in 2014 and 2015 — the highest per capita of any European country.

The Sun further states that 3,000 migrants live unlawfully in Stockholm alone, with roughly 12,000 awaiting deportation in the country as a whole.

“Everyone who has been denied a permit should return home,” said Löfven according to The Sun. “This makes me feel enormously frustrated. If you have been denied a visa you are supposed to leave the country.”

Eva Franchell, a columnist for Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet, has suggested banning cars from city centers to prevent future terror attacks.

A translated version of the article begins, “cars have turned into deadly weapons. They have been easy to steal and then nothing has been able to stop their advance.”

“In Nice, Berlin, Jerusalem, London, and Stockholm they have been used as effective murder machines [by] terrorists who wanted to kill many people,” the article continues.

“If people in the future will be protected cars must simply [be] removed from the collection sites and city centers.”

Franchell goes on to suggest that “deliveries to shops and restaurants can also be redirected to the times when fewer people are out walking the streets.”
