I would seriously reconsider your plan. Sounds like your structure is good to go for wind but it's the surge that will kill you.

Nah, not really. Trucks are fueled but there are reports of people being stuck on the roads.
The keys are rock. That helps. If they were a sand barrier island they could just go away. The winds will be incredible but if you are in a hardened structure then the rising water is the thing to worry about. If the eye passes west of you the sea will rise 20+ft. If it is to the east then it shouldn't be as deep.

The track has been updated to pass west of me now, right over Troy's (Miata2fast) house and between my place and Ryan G's. We are all in the reach of the eyewall and the 110 MPH estimated speeds. Not like the keys, which will see 180mph or more.
I just did the research and my home saw 71mph sustained and gusts to 83mph during Jeanne in 2004. This will be much more interesting.

Still here in the keys. Staying in - CBS reinforced with steel, hip shaped roof, FBC metal roof, straps embedded into the concrete walls. Impact windows and doors. The first floor is an airplane hangar with a 20' ceiling. House is less than 10 years old.

Since we are staying on the airfield, my roommate and I are designated to clean the airfield off if we have a working tractor. This place will be the only way to get supplies in until boats can make it.
Edit: Just found out from the owner of the house that we have more people staying on the airfield including an engineer.

Ryan_G will be coming to stay with us, thankfully. His place was built in the 1930s and is wood, and he lives in the second floor over the garage. Ours was built after the building codes were strengthened post hurricane Andrew and has block walls and I've boarded everything up. I really hope his place is ok but I feel better he's with us.

Saw Troy at the chainsaw shop. I bought a new sprocket for my chainsaw. Troy had two or three of his with him. I think he owns seven or eight because of his business.

I think he's at the other, smaller airfield where they have autocrosses but I'm not sure. Sugarloaf Shores Airport on Sugarloaf Key. That's got an elevation of 4ft, so he should be fine with 20ft wave heights.

I evacuated to my parents house in Tallahassee, which was pretty terrible. Right now it looks like the storm is going to make landfall on my front door.
My house is at 8ft of elevation with 15ft of storm surge projected. I keep doing the math on that and it just doesnt end favorably. The miata is in the garage on jackstands as high as they will go. Just hoping for the best at this point.
