Trayvon killing is heinous, don't get me wrong. However, America and the president seem to think this is a hate crime.
If you go back to this story about two black teens dousing a white kid with gasoline and burning him, you have to get into the 6th paragraph before we talk about "hate" and possible racial motivation.

Most other links and stories don't even mention the ethnicity considerations. Good job, America.

If the NAACP isn't careful, their leaders are going to give us reasons to hate them.

Also, why is the federal government involved at all?

Likely tied to the reporting "police officer's" questionable report that doesn't match the physical evidence.

So one, single trigger caused this? I spend enough time in New Orleans to know it takes more than one questionable police shooting/killing/murder to get the feds involved. This is an issue for state law enforcement and lawmakers, not the federal government...yet. The more I read about the savage burning of a child in KC, MO, the more infuriated I become at these people.

Welcome to what public outrage can do, circa 1889.

I'm with you on this. It's a very stupid situation with a very simple explanation and a very simple solution that does not deserve the media attention it is getting, nor the outrage it is getting from the places it is getting it.

The real pain in my ass is how gun owners are taking such a beating for this moron who most likely should not have killed the guy and should not even be armed as a neighborhood watchman. Its one thing to carry and use the gun for defense, its another to play "amateur law enforcement", armed, looking to start something. Unfortunately America will think all gun owners are walking around looking for someone to shoot and we'll probably be set-back to 10-years.

After the recent Supreme Court ruling, I don't know how much can actually be done with respect to this and gun rights.

But yeah, like I said, I'm in the same boat as you. This whole situation is retarded. Some dumbass looking to shoot someone isn't reflective of an entire group of people. With that said, Hustly, remember this sentence to apply to future situations of other groups of people. :P

Dude I ------- live here and didn't even know about that until YOU posted it...

What are you insinuating?

Because it's a card I'm reserving to play in a future political argument with you.

You're going to have a hard time backing it up. I'm certain that you'll find some satire or irony to utilize as a heartfelt statement of stereotyping.

I already have you "rape is a choice if you dress sexy." How about this one, "All non-whites, homosexuals, and womyn are intellectually inferior and utilize their predisposition to unscrupulous methods for social advancement which target white males out of jealousy for their genetic purity and gender superiority."

You can use this too, it's short and sweet:
"I'm no grand imperial wizard, but I play one on the internet."

I don't know if anyone say MSNBC's edit of the 911 call to try and make it seem racist. The transcript is as follows:
Zimmerman: We’ve had some break-ins in my neighborhood and there’s a real suspicious guy. It’s Retreat View Circle. The best address I can give you is 111 Retreat View Circle.

Zimmerman:This guy looks like he’s up to no good or he’s on drugs or something. It’s raining and he’s just walking around looking about.

911 operator: OK, is he White, Black, or Hispanic?

Zimmerman: He looks black.

Msnbc edited the tape to this.
Zimmerman: He looks like he's up to no good. He looks black.

How sad we can't rely on anything in the media anymore. We don't know the facts. We weren't there. We aren't the jury, judge, or executioner. We don't know what really happened. The amount of pure speculation and outright fabrication related to this whole thing is just disgusting. It was a sad thing that happened. It's even more sad that there is no way Zimmerman will get a fair trial.

Trayvaughn Santiago is dead, and that is a tragedy. But he is dead because he had no code. He is dead because he had no honor, and God was watching.

Holy content filled first post batman!

You're right. I LoL'd when they posted that on their website and like CBS called them on it.. Both sides are guilty of it but it feels to me like the vast majority of leftist media outlets flat out lie about things far more than even the craziest right wing nutjobs even dream of.. That's pretty much why I believe nothing in the news.

Son, we live in a world that has streets, and those streets have to be guarded by men with guns. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lieutenant Hustler? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom! You weep for Trayvaughn and you curse the Neighborhood patrol. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know: that Trayvaughn's death, while tragic, probably saved lives. And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves lives! You don't want the truth, because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that street! You need me on that street! We use words like "honor", "code", "loyalty". We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punchline! I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it! I would rather you just said "Thank you," and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a weapon, and stand a post. Either way, I don't give a damn what you think you are entitled to!

Died laughing Joe, would read again!

P.S. Is Joe the first guy on MT to break 100 props?

Braineack 03-31-2012 07:12 PM
