How does the pump compare in physical size to a walbro 255 or similar?

Deatschwerks 12-06-2010 06:50 PM

Size is very similar.

I have one in my '99 10AE, and it was an extremely easy install.

crashnscar 12-06-2010 07:10 PM

Price?

Deatschwerks 12-07-2010 11:17 AM

~$169

This is a no brainer for the e85 folks. Very nice

TurboTim 12-07-2010 11:46 AM

holy craptastic.

Where can I find this on your site?

DEATSCHWERKS 300LPH In-Tank Fuel Pump
January 2011 Release!

As was posted in the first post. :loser:

TurboTim 12-07-2010 12:18 PM

Ahh. Perhaps they should create the "release post" when it's released. If it is released now, then it should be on their site. If it's on their site, it should be easy for me to find within 3 minutes of randomly clicking on their site. My :2cents:

Looks interesting...

Audible noise comparo against "brand W"? Brand W has a rep of being noisy, or randomly being noisy. A few folks do care about noise.

Those graphs provided... are at 14.4V? 12V?

Deatschwerks 12-07-2010 03:46 PM

Hey Tim, sorry about the wording. :P They will be available around the middle of January.

Jason,

This pump is quiet compared the the W brand. Their pump uses a G-Rotor gear type pump to move the fuel. Our DW300 pump uses a turbine impeller, much like the late model OEMs.

The data for the graph was collected at 13.5v.

I have one in my Miata, and I cannot hear it. :)

18psi 12-07-2010 04:21 PM

If I run out of fuel on the 255HP you'll be hearing from me. My HP is LOUD

I want one. The Walbro made me tone def and left my ears ringing after listening to it whine for a while. I have a larger Denso pump from a Supra in mine that is quiet but it is jury rigged to fit and I have had intermittent pickup fuel starvation under hard left hand cornering that I haven’t been able to solve with it.

Anyone know if this new pump will overwhelm a 99/00 factory FPR at idle?

TurboTim 12-08-2010 09:12 AM

Will there be a style that can be mounted externally, in-line?

chpmnsws6 12-08-2010 09:16 AM

Looks like another thing to add to the list......

Getting real tired of listening to the Walbro. It actually changes pitch with the turn signals!

I can tell you from experience in my 10AE that it does.

Not enough that it's not drivable, but I got down to about 250 miles/tank.

Runs great on E20, though. :D

It's on the wish list, but we'll be focusing on this pump for 2011. One project at a time. :)

JasonC SBB 12-08-2010 12:51 PM

Sounds like a series resistor during low fuel demand is in order.
You can put a relay to short said resistor during periods of high fuel demand.

Deatschwerks 12-17-2010 05:43 PM

Cool, Jason.

Thanks for the tip.

...or we could just do some upgrades to our cars where we don't need the stock regulator any more. :)
