I give up. After ordering and returning 3 different widebands and finding that none of them will communicate with my stock ecu I think I’ll have to go with a standalone. Which leads me to my next question: where can I find and what is the cheapest and easiest tunable ecu money can buy?

Learn more then lurk craigslist. I regularly see MS PNP and Reverant setups on there with the same story of 'welp I got my girlfriend pregnant, gotta sell all my gofast parts'.
It's how I'm slowly piecing together a build.

please do research yourself. If youre not going to put effort behind your questions, nobody here will put effort into answers.

lol sorry, i kinda tend to learn things by trial and error. Measure once cut twice... Also I'm new to cars. I bought an engine blown miata for cheap and engine swapped it in my garage alone with no ones help, not even the internets. Just kinda taped off everything so i could put it back together. Now that the projects over I thought it would be cool to start a new project putting a turbo on it. Sorry for the trouble.

No trouble. Acknowledging stupidity is a good start. Now work towards replacing it with knowledge by reading and learning

Seriously, most of what you need to know is in post #2 of this thread.

Stop doing everything (everything!) and Megasquirt with wideband. Don’t do anything else until you’ve completed this step- otherwise you’re going to waste a bunch of time and money.

Read the FAQ’s here. People took a lot of trouble to write them.

Details? Trying to figure out what you were trying to accomplish.

OP do research it’s all here on this forum. There’s no ‘cheap way’ to boost a your miata properly unless you take lots of time waiting for people to sell their used turbo parts for a little bit cheaper than regular price.

At $1200, it's not really the cheapest/ and/or easiest.

I'd recommend a prebuilt DIYPNP at half the price.
