Going to an individual runner collector-style manifold would likely improve performance across the board. Earlier spool and greater peak power would be evident.

Nice car.

Nice car.

Yep. Need to spend some money on a decent manifold to do that turbo justice.

I believe he could net 30 whp at least across the board if he switched to a ramhorn style manifold. Throw E85 in the mix and few more pounds of boost could really wake things up.

I mean, everyone knew this in the past. They just don't sell/market to the aftermarket crowd like Garrett does.

Yes, I fully agree with all the comments regarding manifold design. My preference would be an individual runner exhaust manifold feeding a twin-scroll EFR turbocharger.
This very well could be my project next winter!
Thanks for all the feedback.

Very well put together, may I ask what either of those turbochargers ran you price wise and where you picked them up at?

You had me at "Borg Warner". Also, are you worried about your internals at all? I got my tuner to stop at 250whp cus I haven't touched my internals and the general consensus was that you shouldn't go above 250 on stock internals. I was wondering if its ok to go higher under certain conditions?

Where at the Mitty are you going to be at? There is a large group of miataturbo people that will probably be hanging out around the DiyAutoTune tent all Saturday.

I actually did test both the 6258 and the 6255. While the 6255 has slightly better inertia, the 6258 has superior turbine efficiency. In the end the spool was the same and the 6258 was good for about 10+ more power on the top end.

I share all your same concerns! Currently looking for a back-up engine... just in case.

I wish I would have seen your post prior to the Mitty. I parked the car in the Mazda corral with the hood up. I would have like to have seen some other turbo miatas.

Me like it very much the downpipe design, looks freakin badass.

Kudos for the info and high resolution pictures. It seems you still have stock internals...?!

Sweet EFR setup, I've really been thinking about doing a 94 miata build for some time now but I just bought a 08 mazdaspeed3 I'll have to put those plans on hold for now.

Your profile says western NC, I'm from the Asheville area myself if you wouldn't mind I'd like to check it out sometime.
