Yeah, but remember it's all theory. People swear by the evo3 16G. Also, I'd worry more about intercooler efficiency rather than turbo efficiency.

Anyone have thoughts?

The Evo III "GT" 16Gs aren't made by MHI:

The SS Autochrome and the turbo sold by Turbochargers.com is two very different turbos.

I run the turbochargers.com version on both of my cars.

14b would work, we run them on 1.5 liter cars, and obviously they came on a 2.0 liter.

No, a T2 flange is not the same as a mitsu flange.

if it is a mitsu 14b it will work look at my vb garage i have pics of the megan setup flanges by a ruller you can get a good feel for the size and spacing of it and the keep this in mind when you look at the turbo or print the pics and take em with you.

The 14b is a good turbo. If it's in great shape, I'd pick it up.

Also, the Megan is flanged for the DSM turbos, it'll work.

Has anyone here clocked one of these little suckers???

I got one in a 2nd hand DIY kit I bought, and it appears that it comes (naturally) off a bottom mounting manifold - the manifold I have is a copy of the GReddy top mount manifold, so the oil return ends up sticking out of the top of the turbo.

I started to try and do it myself, but having undone the locking ring I can't get it to budge. I stopped at that point because I wasn't sure if there is actually something else holding these turbos together, and the last thing I need is to bust it while tinkering. Once the locking ring os off should the whole thing seperate in the middle, or is it otherwise held together by internal connections?

Is there a locating pin stopping me from rotating the housings relative to eachother to help 'crack' it? Any tips on how to coerce it to come apart and not damage anything?

Thanks in advance.

ok well the 14b got sold before i could grab it
and im wondering, how bad would it be to get the EVO3 "big" 16g? does it breform better than the t3? its only going to be ran sub 10psi for a few months, eventually im rebuilding the whole engine after I get to my first duty station to hold higher boost

i was originally wanting to get a subie when i finished tech training but decided I would rather make my car fit me the way i like it instead
my dad asks me why i want to spend money on a 16 year old car if i can get in a wreck tomarrow and they pay me less than its worth, my view is i wreck it its just an excuse to buy FM's new westfield with the claim money

the evo3 is a very nice turbo and it will be very efficient at all boost levels just make sure it is an evo 3 and not just a big 16g. btw the big 16g still flows alot more than the td04 on the greddy but not as much as the small or the evo3.

Not bad at all. In fact if you get it, you'll have all the turbo you'll ever need. (unless you're truly demented ) You can always keep an eye out for another 14b, and have the ability to run either. The thing about the 14b and 16G variants is that people get rid of them all the time as they upgrade to something else. It's easier to find a good deal.
