you would not spend 150 on a s15 ball bearing 2560r? Interesting... It's a great turbo. Not to be confused with the s13 journal bearing sr20. Which is also ok turbo and yes cheaper around $100-200
totally random/off topic: have any of y'all compared same size "BALL BEARING!!!1oneone" to "journal bearing...ugh" actual data with respect to actual boost threshold?
the results may surprise you

^This is why im torn comparing what i have to the big girl
Oh I wasn't talking about your turd of a turbo. it sucks. that part isn't up for debate lol
and the 2876 .86 will also be a dog below 5k
My whole thing with BB vs JB was that in my testing, spool was identical on identically sized turbos

I used pureturbos, no complaints with their work, turbo worked great once i got it back.
is it me, or have s14 s15 sr20 turbos went up in price? i see them for $500-600 now days, and i remember they used to be $250-350.
if i remember correctly, when i bent my wheel on my 2560, it cost me i think 350 or 450 to upgrade to a billet wheel, so im assuming a stock cast wheel is much less.

Hmm, so I might as well just buy a working condition one, as low boost levels wont see a benefit from an upgraded wheel quite as much.
the only difference in the BB and Journal will be in transient response. Im sure you already know this but the OP may not.

which is why this one i have is so bad. Every shift it's back to square one. Starts building boost at like 2500 but not the measly 9psi i want until after 4k. The big BB will just be a fun runner. No it wont be a canyon carver but i do a lot of roll racing (i know selling the mx6 for another miata was dumb) and it will be decent at that. Should build it fast when its there and after shifts im back at over 4k almost everytime. I have a 4.1 torsen though unfortunately.

Its possible that im wrong, but any dyno ive seen says otherwise. Some see a 500rpm peak boost difference. Especially on miatas. Garrett (prolly hype to sell turbos) says a possible 15% increase. I know a 2554r vs stock sr20 turbo has a really nice increase and they are dead *** the same size. And my buddy went from an sr20 turbo to a, bb 2860 i wanna say, and it also spooled slightly faster. But none of these take into account wear and tear. Bearings over time have to cause more friction and most dont test an old jb to an old bb, most are old jb and a new bb. Idk, tell me if im wrong and its all a placebo effect or something, im all ears
