Default 93 1.6 looking for small turbo build.

So I’ve been considering wanting to turbo my Miata but I don’t know where to begin. I just want to make around 150 hp to liven up the drive as a daily. As far as kits I’ve looked at the Mk Turbo and cxracing kit and I’m not looking to get that much power in return.

Get the full mkturbo kit with injectors, megasquirt, intercooler and all and enjoy.

Cxracing "kits" are trash. And dont include any fuel/engine management

If you only want 150hp there are easier options, a 1.8 is a good little bump over the 1.6 and is basically a bolt in affair or a SC can usually be found cheaper but still needs fuel management but if you find a full kit it may come with AIDS and make it driveable but not very good plan but is cheaper than turbo with proper management. If you want closer to 200hp then a turbo makes more sense but only 150hp you basically should just do an 1.8 NB1 swap for the best bang for the buck imho as it leaves you alot more options later when you want more power.

kind of suprised you havent been torn to shreds with this unresearched question though(if you think the CX kit and the MK are comparable you have not read much).

Boost is like crack. You think "i'll just try one hit, i wont let it get out of hand" and the next thing you know, you're looking up boost controllers to feed your habit because wastegate isn't enough.
Get parts that are tested and have headroom for when you want more. Or be prepared to spend your money twice, up to you. But most importantly, do more research.

Get the MK Kit. I have been daily driving mine for almost a year with his 1.6L setup and put nearly 10k miles on it without any issues after I got it all working properly. It's also worth getting the MK kit simply for the support both Lars and this forum can provide.
