Thoughts on switching to 2" hot side piping to a 2.5" coupler at the i/c?

Once I get the manifold, we have one last idea for 2.5" pipe. (Move P/S reservoir back, move a/c relays, go down)

If that doesn't work (it probably won't) I'm going 2" pipe on the hot side. Cold side is super easy, and already test fit (just haven't cut pipes yet) with 2.5" pipe and fits fine. DNMakinson may have some extra 2" pipes from his car, so I would just go pick those up and order what ever else needs to be bought.

BUY NB2s.

jeez that hole would make this easy.

I'm sure there's a way to make even the 2.5 fit, but it will require re-locating/moving/modifying and at that point, to me, just not that attractive. Esp since it really won't do anything over the 2 in terms of flow

Agree with you on it really not being much of an improvement. At this point it's just kind of one of those things, I bought it already, why not try to make it work? (Bought used(new) here for a good deal). At the point I feel trying to make the 2.5" pipe fit is more work than I feel it's worth vs. buying the pipe, I'll call it. I bought a finned P/S cooler to make the i/c fit, so I have to fool with the reservoir and lines anyway. To each his own though with mods though. I've tried to keep things pretty stock so far, and these mods would be pretty easily reversible if I go that route.

Wait... why are we not talking about the 2.5" FM silicone one piece hotside pipe?

Not using FM manifolds or Begi manifold.

So uh, did it anyway.

Hot side (all couplers not on turbo/intercooler are being welded)

Either I'm crazy, or I had something completely in the way when I tried that on my 01, cause I don't remember being able to do that, and I tried.
Is it touching anything at all? or really really close?
But good job, you definitely pulled it off and looks clean and simple.

Not gunna lie, it feels too good to be true. The lower radiator hose was in the way, and the power steering reservoir. Both are being dealt with (method TBD). Waiting for someone to ruin my day and tell me what I have forgotten to reinstall. lol.

EDIT: A lot of people have IWG issues when clocking this way using a front mounted IWG. Mine mounts to the back of the compressor housing.

EDITEDITtoActuallyAnswerYourQuestion: It is against one hose (a/c high pressure). Everything else had at least an inch of clearance.

haha, yeah it was exactly where I wanted the filter to go. Haven't decided where it's going, or whether I'll buy a shorter unit. I replaced the p/s cooler with a fin typed one, so I needed to re-route lines anyway. No biggie to move the reservoir somewhere else while I'm at it (so long as I can find a decent location).

I've killed off my AC in the name of intercooler and I'm struggling not to take out the PS as well. Glad to see you made it work!

Our of curiosity, what intercooler is that?

"CXRacing universal 2.5" piping intercooler kit."

I bought it from TheBirdmanJD during his part out.

I went looking for this thread for a picture of my mounting brackets and didn't realize it had been necro'do. Since this I have pulled my ac and power steering but I kept the same routing because it's been good to me (and too lazy to change lol.) also repainted the engine bay while I had the motor out

Oh and leave my blue couplers alone!
