Default begi cast manifold w/ external wg

i've been poking around this website to try and find on what to do with my 1.8 begi cast manifold that has no external wg. am i stuck with using a turbo with an internal wg, or is there anybody that can help me out?

There's nothing "wrong" with internal. Anything you want comes either way.

Corky can modify the manifold for a cost if you really want external

thanks guys, i've been cranking a lot of info in these past weeks from this website and its been nothing but helpful, but i have very little knowledge about turbochargers, and i found out that pretty much all turbos from from factory cars have external wg. i didn't realize that the little gold canister on the turbo is an external wg.

I hate to break it to you, but the little gold cannister is not the wastegate, it's the wastegate actuator; basically it's a spring and diaphragm with a pressure port so the boost can open the internal wastegate door at the appropriate pressure differential.

Pretty much 99% of factory turbocharged cars are internally wastegated, from the Mazdaspeed 3 to the Bugatti Veyron.

yep, OEM is most likely internal. I'd spend a little more time reading about what the parts of a turbo are.
