Not my "theories", well known/documented issues.

Except "seems to hold it better" is sorta iffy. OP..do you have any old datalogs showing much better performance?. He could have been tapering the whole time but only really realized it now, just a theory of course.

I guess the obvious answer is go back to the old actuator and see if that is that resolves the issue, but the fact that its still hitting 20psi+ when he cranks down the preload, leads me to think its something else.

Right a bit of an update on this issue. I've reduced the preload on the actuator rod and added more to the MBC and I'm back to reducing to 14psi instead of 13psi.

I'm beginning to think my turbo is on its last legs. It's always smoked a little at idle, but over the past few days its blowing a lot of smoke under deceleration and idle. It makes me think it needs rebuilt and simply won't hold a higher level of boost.

My guess is that it's much more likely to be a fault of the smoky turbo than the 2 month old actuator.

/Goes off to look at rebuild options.

Yeah pretty much, although it doesn't make as much boost in 3rd.

Today I ordered a new 14psi actuator.

What are the bets this solves the problem?
