Default Can you modify an Internal Wastegate to an External Wastgate?

I was wondering if anyone has converted a Garrett GT3071R from an internal wastegate to an external wastegate? If so what all was involved? Thanks in advance.

Does your manifold have an external wastegate provision?

If not are there any aftermarket turbine housings for the GT30 line up for external wastegates?

If there are then you just bolt up the flapper and on your way

I don't believe there is on my unit. Can you point me in the direction to look for the aftermarket turbine housing. Thanks in advance.

probably cheaper and easier in the long run, to get an EFR.

surprised you're getting creep on a 3071. what is your boost control strategy, what wastegate "spring" do you have now? what boost are you running?

Have a manual adjustment and don't remember the the spring rate but the adjustment came with two different springs and it hase the heavier one in it now. It seems to have boost creep at 20 to 21 psi.

No that is when it starts happening... jumps from 20 or so to 26, 27.

remove the wastegate rod form the turbo and then wire the flapper so it's as open as it can go. does it still creep or even make boost?

It would be if the ECU wasn't cutting the fuel to prevent run away.

you can weld an IWG shut on the turbine housing and then weld an EWG flange to the manifold. but the preferred way would be a new turbine housing meant for EWG.
