Ok, I want to share with everyone, use PM's to direct me to a thread that you want input on. It allows for ideas other than mine and it allows others to learn too. In the odd case you have something you need to keep private, that's different.
The parts that I used are not gonna be the same that you use. Depends on your power goals, with that said there are some other caveats. I own a TIG and MIG welder and know how to use them.
Basic hard parts:
Ebay Chinese Turbo $200
Ebay SSAutochrome Manifold $175
Piping $75
Tial Wastegate $220
leftover HKS BOV $0
1/2" Steel plate for flanges $10
bolts and clamps $30
Stainless steel hose for Turbo oil feed and return $50
Intercooler core $200
Misc odds and ends $100
So these make up the hard parts: total $1060
Now the other stuff
TEC-IIIR $2000 w/ injectors
AEM WBO2 $250
Gauges $0 Leftovers
Greddy Boost controller $250
$2500 in electronic goodies
Motor $2600
Billet Oil Pump gears $400
Total $3000 in motor
Only $6560.00
So lets get back to what you want to do. Keeping it cheap. Assume you can put together a decent set of hard parts for under $1500. This is totally doable but does not address engine management at all.
If I were to have used a stock motor with a MS unit running the show, I could have probably kept the budget under $2500 for everything. It would have been good for 10 PSI with the stock motor pushing as much as 250 RWHP. Of course I would have used a smaller turbo on the stock motor since you don't want to rev the stocker to 8500 RPM. A basic T3 can usually be had for as low as $189 + shipping on ebay.
I have no idea on the quality of various vendors, but I ordered from drift-pros on ebay. This is who I got my T3/T4 chinacharger from.
Doing it again, I could do it much cheaper than I initially did it, but you can too. Take your time, measure twice and cut once. A stock motor with a large turbo can make some serious power at the expense of RPM that it will spool at. Your application will dictate the size of turbo you want.

I think what Mark is basically saying is to keep it on the board so that everbody can learn from it. The above posting is a great example. Had he answered the person directly, the rest of us would not benefit from his post and he may have been asked the same thing over and over by others until he burned out.

I like the thought of revving to 8500, but my current B6T rods wouldnt like it. Plus I still have stock cams and HLA's. 7200 rpm on my setup though isnt really that bad considering my turbo hits full boost @ 3800-4200rpm and I still have plenty over powerband that is a little more accessable than marks is, although once he spools he wont be dropping out of his powerband either.
