So I was out in the garage doing some preliminary fitting, and ran into the issue of where to mount the FMU. The normal spot is already taken by ABS and its lines. Anybody mount elsewhere, or run into the same problem? Anybody have pictures of alternate mounting? Thanks

Passenger shock tower mount works fine.

the BEGi unit fits, but required the use of zip-ties on the brake lines.

you could also mount in the area above the shock mount.

I think I mounted mine to the charcoal cannister's bracket.

ziptie it to the fuse box (that's what I did on my car w/no abs)...its a diaphram...why does it need to be solid?

My setup will be pretty ghetto to start with...I'd prefer to avoid zipties on the AFPR, even though it would work just fine that way

Don't be afraid.....you have to learn to trust the zip ties

I'm currently removing the giant zip-tie repair of the front bumper that the PO did such a lovely job on. I had a Frankenbumper.

Gives me a chance to repaint it, though, which should be fun.

yes, with engine braking and non-abs brakes it is not hard.

engine braking...... Just modulate them suckers. The advantage with Non-ABS is the pedal feel. Although I finally got mine to where I'm 100% satisfied with them, a little soft to the touch, but I can smack my head on the steering wheel if I'm not careful.

ABS means no flat spots. I'll take that with expensive V710's.

The only time you will out brake ABS is in dry, and only if you mash your foot to the floor. If you brake to the threshold of the ABS it's the same as doing it to the threshold of lockup.

ABS for teh win in the wet of snow.

Thank you Jay, I'm glad somebody else said it. Once you get off smooth dry ashpalt, a person simply isn't better than ABS.
In perfect conditions, warm day, sticky tires, right surface, a person can beat the ABS... but try that same surface on 400 treadwear when it's 30* out.
