Default EFR Turbosmart Wastegate upgrade worth it?

Out of curiosity, has anybody here noticed any better performance with the Turbosmart wastegate over the stock borgwarner wastegate? The difference in the turbsmart recirc valve was noticeable, but I am wondering if the wastegate is worth the money

Would probably only be interested in the single port, street driven I don't feel the need to run super low wastegate pressures, but do wonder if it would offer any benefits:
Spool?
Overall Control?
Anything?

I am not having any 'problems' really with the stock medium canister threaded all the way down (so that it opens fully, was having overboost issues prior) but A) I don't love how little turns I have on the nut on the rod with the flap interference with the turbine if it were to come undone and B) more control = more gooder right? Just not sure if it is worth the $150 or so or if that money would be better spent elsewhere... looking for anyone with first-hand experience, logs showing any differences would be ideal but not holding my breath

The old turbosmart dual ports sucks, they redesigned it and put a ball joint on the shaft so that it can actually move more than a quarter inch without binding. I am not sure how similar the single port is, but if it's got the same shaft seal brass bushing o-ring mess and therefore no compliance I'd want nothing to do with it on an EFR.

Good to know because I was considering the dual-port Turbosmart to deal with my generic WG being pushed open above 15 psi.

If not the TS, what's a decent dual port to use?

Maybe forge, not sure if they still make them. Plenty of threads apparently, looks like a straight 6mm shaft, too. Easier to add a ball joint if you needed. Seems like he still way overruns the rating of the spring, hitting a 10psi cut on a 5psi spring. Lame as ****.

I emailed turbosmart to see if you could buy just the output shaft and ball joint rod to upgrade the old dual port, but nope. At some point I'll add a ball joint to mine but that's gonna take a lathe to turn down the diameter of the shaft to 6mm, because it's more like 7mm.

IMO the only reason to go with the TurboSmart single port is if you want to raise your wastegate pressure and/or you're loosing control over the wastegate at the upper boost limit you're trying to run. Being able to change the springs out to customise your boost window is really the only difference.

I have installed one on my build, stock block MSM with a EFR6258, as I think the default EFR medium can will cause rods to turn to noodles and want to reduce my boost window. I'm running a 5psi spring right now, but that was an extra purchase, the can comes with 2 7psi springs which stack to give you 14psi. I suspect I'll end up running a single 7psi spring once I sort out EBC and feel safe after baselining my torque levels. But with my springs in various combinations I could run 5psi, 7psi, 12psi, 14psi or 19psi wastegate.

If you're happy with the window provided by your can, medium I assume, then there's no reason to change it, other than maybe aesthetics.

Looks like Forge only has a single-port WG any more.

I run a Turbosmart Single Port wastgate on my 6258. I picked it because I wanted to have the ability to swap out springs - I run a 7 psi spring because I have a stock bottom end and was worried about the standard medium pressure BW being too much.

I've had no issues controlling it, boost is very predictable and repeatable from my testing. The threaded rod was a few mm shorter than I would expect so I had to add a bit more preload than recommended, but haven't had any issues in the ~3500 miles I have on the setup.

If you're looking for an upgrade, I wouldn't spend the money here. It is convenient for swapping springs but if you have good control with the stock BW gate I wouldn't bother.
